Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV ATF is the full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid that has been uniquely engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of the General Motors Dexron VI specification and is officially licensed and approved by GM. Formulated with premium synthetic base stocks and advanced additives to prevent the major causes of transmission breakdown, it’s designed to help prevent leaks, reduce wear and tear, resist sludge and maximize performance – all for much longer than conventional fluids. It has improved thermal stability for longer fluid life, better viscosity stability for consistent transmission operation, and specific frictional enhancements for smooth gear engagements.     • The only real "Full Synthetic" Mercon LV available!!

An actual FULL SYNTHETIC Mercon LV and at a better price than the Ford crap that is expensive Motorcraft Mercon LV (Ford doesn't make fluids or transmissions). I can only speak for Fords and Aisins transmissions directly that require Mercon LV, but I am told that the GM DEXRON VI transmissions fluid is the exact product reading online by the professional transmission builders and gurus. 2009-2020 Fords for the most part use Mercon LV but some use ULV. But in this case, you get a great product cheaper than Ford branded fluid. They didn't design, make or even service most of these transmissions. All the Fusion's and Escapes with CVT"s and I know that the F150's that have the 6R80 claim to have lifetime fluid and they are claimed to be "sealed". That is a crock of crap. They both have drain and fill locations. The Fusion CVT's I have the most experience with, but I installed an aftermarket pan and flushed the entire transmission on the F150 Platinum with a new filter without an issue to date (We used Amsoil in this particular case). Yet, FORD says it cannot be done. That is because when the darn thing fails, they think you are going to run to them to spend 5 grand on a new one. Nope!! It is very easy to change the fluid on any of the Ford, GM or Mopar vehicles. The Fusion models uses an Allen Hex 10mm socket and 5-6 quarts of fluid to pump in with a simple fluid exchange pump from Harbor freight or Amazon. This is for any of the Ford vehicles with CVT's. This applies to many GM vehicles and Mopar too because it is the same transmission just programmed different. This fluid is affordable enough to change it on any mileage that makes you comfortable. I use Amsoil and Mobil1 motor oils and filters, so you can easily change it at the same time you are down there. Perhaps 20-30k mile intervals is plenty. For anyone over that, just order it up and the correct Hex 10mm and knock it out in 30 minutes or so. ... show more

Really wanted to get a full synthetic for my Ford Flex, this was a good cost effective alternative in full synthetic for me to do regular changes on my vehicle. Since this system doesn't have a replaceable filter, I want to do my best to keep it clean and fresh and this does the trick. Since the vehicle doesn't have any transmission issues, I can't say if it has any performance variants, but for the cost I am happy and had no issues to date! ... show more

    • Mercon LV Replacement - Feeling good - works great!

I purchased 5QTS to complete a drain and fill on my 2019 Ford Escape with the 6F35 Transmission -- this is not "officially" licensed by Ford but is recommended by Valvoline for use with the Mercon LV specs-- the transmission is a joint development from Chevrolet and Ford - I compared the specs from the Mercon LV fluid and the ONLY difference is the viscosity at -40C - not even a concern for the climate I live in. After the drain and fill my car shifts smoother and softer, it's has pep, and I feel like it drives like the day it was purchased. I would def purchase again to keep on schedule with my transmission maintenance. I can't comment on longevity as of yet seeing the change just happened but I will say after doing research and knowing how the Mercon LV fluid degrades over time I'm hopeful this will be more durable since it is a synthetic fluid. Time will tell. All that to say if you have Ford that requires LV -- don't stress it -- order it... it works! ... show more

This meets the spec for my 2007 Silverado 2500 HD Allison 1000. However, it's $39/gal vs. $24/gal for the Valvoline Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid which also meets the spec. Oddly, this jug didn't have a seal under the cap, like all my other gallon jugs of oil and transmission fluid do. ... show more
