Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV ATF is a full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid that has been uniquely engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of the General Motors Dexron VI specification and is officially licensed and approved by GM. Formulated with premium synthetic base stocks and advanced additives to prevent the major causes of transmission breakdown, it’s designed to help prevent leaks, reduce wear and tear, resist sludge and maximize performance – all for much longer than conventional fluids. It has improved thermal stability for longer fluid life, better viscosity stability for consistent transmission operation, and specific frictional enhancements for smooth gear engagements. I have a 2020 chevy Blazer V6 Front wheel drive with 28,000 miles. Decided to do a transmission drain and refill (have to do it twice on this vehicle to get most of the old fluid out). The fluid that came out was a little dirty but not horrible i was able to drain about 5 quarts out and refilled it with 5 quarts of this new valvoline fluid (kept adding fluid until it started coming out of the level plug hole on the driver side of the transmission with the engine hot and running). I then let it sit in drive for a minute and reverse for a minute while stopped and holding the brake so the new fluid can get mixed in, then went for a drive. I felt a difference almost right away the transmission shifts smoother than before i can barely even feel it shifting now and also sometimes there would be a slightly harsh downshift around 15-20 mph when coming to a stop and this seems to have gotten better as well, this is only after getting half of the old fluid out! I am ordering another case and will be doing another drain and refill soon! ... show more

This fluid is fine and I recommend always doing a drain and fill every 20k miles if you can swing it. I also DO NOT recommend you buy any large 1gal jugs of anything from amazon. You have a 50/50 chance of it busting. Yes it was a few dollars cheaper, but by the time I get my last bottle it will have been 3+ weeks from time of order to getting them all. UPS made it worse by cutting off the shipping label (soaked in fluid), taped it to a new box and throwing out the broken jug. ... show more

    • Good fluid, specifically recommended for my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox.

I put this into an older 2010 Chevy Equinox with over 140K miles on the transmission BEFORE there was any hint of a transmission issue...the car was running perfectly at the time, and remains so. The old transmission fluid was nearly black, this stuff is a nice cherry red. I should have done this every 50K-80K miles. I just removed the drain plugs, captured the old fluid, and put back in exactly the same amount. I realize this does not get out all of the old fluid, but I've seen mechanics on Youtube say if your transmission is working perfectly, avoid a "power flush", and just regularly refresh the fluid is safer than potentially getting debris forced into a narrow transmission fluid channel. This is the fluid recommended by GM for this car; I realize there are "multi car" fluids out there, but I went with the one specifically rated for my car. There have been no issues with the transmission before or after the fluid change. If you already HAVE transmission issues, well...I wish you the best, and hope this fixes it, but proactive refreshing of the fluid is proactive maintenance you need to do (unlike me on this car) roughly every 50K miles, despite what the owners manual says...the car manufacturer only "cares" about you during the warranty period.... ... show more
