  • I Can Hear the Digital Signal Processing!
Style: Revelator USB-C Dynamic Mic
I have been spoiled by high quality XLR studio mics costing $3-5,000. My ears can hear that my voice being processed by the mics modest DSP circuitry. This mic is a deal at $100. Don't expect it to sound great, just GOOD! I needed a simple USB C mic. I GOT ONE! Has great software that I will very very rarely use. I could use another vertical rod to raise the mic up another 5 inches or so. I did contact PreSonus support and received a CANNED response. Bad news!!! ... show more

  • Is the PreSonus Revelator USB Condenser Microphone for podcasting, live streaming?
Style: Revelator USB-C Condenser Mic
The media could not be loaded. We did a mic check review for creators. After the review, I was impressed by build quality and sound quality. The one drawback for me was the software suite that came with the device is not user friendly, but it is not necessary to operate the Mic. Definitely for the professional. For those just getting started I would still recommend if your serious about your craft. 4 out of 5! ... show more

  • High Quality Mic - Reverb is just OK barely
Style: Revelator USB-C Condenser Mic
The mic is a really good sounding mic. This seems to be designed for musicians who want to Zoom call perform or live stream. In my experience, you have to use the ASIO driver for the mic to get the best out of it on a Zoom live, etc. - otherwise I get clicks and pops. The Universal Control software seems really cool especially because you can have multiple mixes and can add reverb/effects to your performance. To me the reverb is just ok - barely. It adds a little but it just isn't a good sounding reverb to my ears - short, medium or long decay all sound sort of fake. Maybe I just expect too much. Also - sometimes the effects just don't seem to get into the mix that you are sending over the stream. Even when the reverb level is up in the mix that you have chosen for your Zoom call, sometimes it is just dry. Things are either glitchy or not explained well - because I cannot figure it out. I really do think the mic and the sound is very good by itself (but so is a Yeti or a Samson G Track) but if you have expectations that the reverb and the effects will enhance your performance - well maybe not as much as you may think - in fact it may hurt the performance. I know it helps if you don't suck to begin with. I do wonder why some other manufacturer (Sure, Rode, Blue) has not put together a USB mic with effects (reverb, compression, delay) that is reliable, sounds great, and is plug and play without needing a separate interface and software. ... show more

  • Amazing Sound Quality but Subpar Noise Floor
Style: Revelator USB-C Dynamic Mic
The microphone build quality is great and doesn’t feel cheap in any way. The sound quality from this USB microphone is second to none when compared to others. It has a very natural and warm sound to it and punches with the more expensive XLR options. Combined with the software, it offers a great package at a very competitive price point. However, the deal breaker for me was the sound floor. There is a slight audible hiss once the microphone begins picking up audio. For video creation, this can be removed in post. For live microphone recordings/live-streaming, it may become bothersome. ... show more

  • OMG I LOVE THIS THING!!
Style: Revelator USB-C Condenser Mic
My podcast was suffering with bad mic quality after iTunes discontinued the Bossjock podcast software. I'd used 19" studio rack mounted gear prior to that, with expensive mics and patchwork software. This mic solved all the problems. Try to find the Youtube of Sweetwater's extensive review of this product. It comes with software that is fully configurable and works so well - it's really shocking how good this setup is. To top it off, the company has a TON of amazing Youtubes on How to for Studio One recording software...which is also included - with a ton of great plugins - for FREE with the mic!!! My only complaint is that the cords going into the bottom sucks very bad for the desktop stand that they include. They need to come out the back because this setup is terrible. But that is the only negative I can say after using this for about the past 15 shows of The 12-Step Buddhist Podcast. Check it out, the sound is great because of this mic! ... show more

  • Good mic, bad pre-amp
Style: Revelator USB-C Dynamic Mic
The media could not be loaded. Setup is easy, the Universal Control application gives you a lot of flexibility over how the microphone behaves. However, a lot of noise comes out of the pre-amp. You will need to do some post-processing cleanup to remove the noise. As such, you don't want to use the noise gate, so that you can get a profile of the noise the mic is letting through. (Note, applications like Zoom, Zencaster, MS Teams, and Discord will handle some of the noise reduction for you, so not an issue there). I like the size of the microphone stand. You can travel with it, though the box it comes in is a bit larger than you really want to throw in a suitcase. Compared to the PD-70, the response is not as flat and seems to have a bit more bass boost. The EQ lets you adjust this as desired though. ... show more

  • I really want to like this mic but . . .
Style: Revelator USB-C Dynamic Mic
the Revelator Dynamic has the potential to be a very good mic. There were a few things that I noticed that others have commented on: unusual Noise Gate settings and fair amount of hiss at certain gain levels. Takes a bit of messing around with the settings to get that ideal sound. There is one thing that I especially don't like. For some reason; when I power on my PC, the mic doesn't connect and blinks red. I have to disconnect and reconnect the USB-C cable to "reset" it. I've had to do it so often that I'm afraid that the connection will eventually wear out. I've contacted Presonus and have gone through all their troubleshooting steps but still have not found a solid solution. I'm not sure if it's an isolated incident, but it's definitely annoying. I'm hoping that there will be some updates that would possibly solve this issue and other minor annoyances. Other than that; the mic sounds great, looks great and could be a nice alternative to more expensive dynamic mics. ... show more
