Description

With the same robust connectivity options and powerful, articulate driver Combo, the Eris E8 XT studio monitor is a nuanced update to a lauded classic. The 1. 25-Inch silk-dome tweeter now sports a Hugh sarvis-designed EBM waveguide, delivering a wider and more controlled sweet spot ideal for group listening and collaboration. A larger, ported enclosure extends the bass response of the 8-inch woven composite low-frequency driver without adding any mud. And of course, the acoustic tuning controls let you flatten the frequency response in accordance with your mix environment. It’s Eris, remastered.

  • Good speakers (Eris E8 XT)
I'm liking these speakers way more than I thought I would. I love the big dumb bass it's got. They're not the brightest speakers but that could be my room too. I'm also using them way too close to my head, on a desk, on mo pad type pads, in a completely untreated small room I use for jamming and demos and the speakers are really very enjoyable despite the very not acoustically ideal space. I WISH THE CONTROLS WERE DETENTED THOUGH! What a pain. Fortunately, the set up I'm using them in doesn't require heavy accuracy from the speakers' controls. They're being fed by a small Yamaha mixer so I just adjust the stereo balance there. Without that mixer though, getting the stereo image correct or using the speaker's tone controls would be a real PITA. I mix in another room, there's more more accurate stuff in there but it's probably not as fun to hang with speaker-wise. These Eris's are warm and big and fat and I kinda loved them from the first minute I heard them. It was between these and Tannoy Golds and I've got no regrets. ... show more

  • Love these studio monitors
Love these studio monitors. They sound great, look good, and are a great price.

  • Accurate clear foundation on a budget!
I am a sound technician for a local church and demo CD producer. I use them with a Roland VS-2480EX DAW. I picked these speakers for the 8" mid woofer and price and I was thoroughly amazed! The highs are crystal clear and accurate, and the lower end is tight and deep from 50 to 90dB. They are a little "present" but come with a mid range pad that I have turned halfway down. I think this is due to my 57 year old ears, because when I set them up for room acoustics with my reference mic, out of the box they were +- 4 dB of flat from 18KHz down to 38 Hz. Presonus is known for their DAW software and mixers and with this line of Eris monitors, the buyer cannot go wrong. Exceptional performance for a monitor costing 3-4 times more! ... show more

  • JBL 308P Vs Eris E8 XT - I prefer the JBLs
I will say before continuing, I purchased these at a 51% discount so Im looking at the perspective of these being about 160$ each or 350$ for the pair after taxes. In this context, despite my preference for the JBL 308P's, 350$ for a pair of 8 inch studio monitors is a no brainer. Given the choice Id be more than happy with these if I were a beginner producer wanting or needing large studio monitors. However I am not a beginner producer, so I need something more accurate and honest about what Im creating to make the best product I can. I will start with pros with the Eris E8 XT's. - Very professional looking and requires very little cleaning. microfiber cloth will be more than enough - Options for tuning the speaker is plentiful and should be good for adapting to any room - Packaging is simple and produces little waste - Mids and highs are clear and powerful - Listed Feq. response is accurate and can actually go below 20Hz with ease. Port is tuned to about 35 Hz. - Can get as loud as the JBL 308P's... kinda Cons about the Eris E8 XT's - Can not for the life of it handle any signal over about -10db. Will distort and become VERY muddy and bloated sounding. This is with gain in the middle and AS set to -4db. Sounds the same across all three settings. - has a certain Freq. range where the woofer just sounds like it wants to die. I believe around the 50-120ish Hz range where your kicks and most bass lives. Ive tested several genres of music and its the same results. kicks just huff and chuff and sounds like someone is hitting a wall - Bass sounds best behind the speaker? or like, right beside it? but nowhere infront of the speaker. Interesting. - Woofer is hitting max excursion at about 60-70% volume and I fear for its life span Eris E8 XT Vs. JBL 308P (as a reminder, this is subjective and this is taking MY specific setup into consideration. This may not apply to you) Bass reponse - JBL 308P Mids and Highs - Eris E8 XT Adjustability and versatility - Eris E8 XT High volume stability - JBL 308P Out of Box experience - JBL 308P Mix and Master - JBL 308P Best sweet spot - JBL 308P MSRP - JBL 308P Price to performance (at MSRP) - JBL 308P Price to performance (on sale) - Eris E8 XT Aesthetic - Eris E8 XT Now let me talk about introducing a subwoofer. If you let the subwoofer do all the bass work that the E8 XT cant do, these are better. However standalone I dont believe the JBL 308P needs a subwoofer, not unless you really need it. The JBL 308P is just a more refined speaker. My source is a Soundcraft Notepad-8fx and everything is running through Worlds Best Cables XLR cables. Speakers are place Aprox. 6 ft away from me and are 6 ft apart from eachother at the tweeters. All in all, I dont dislike these. at about 150$ a piece this is a great speaker. I just can not justify it costing over 300$ with its weaknesses. Be smart, buy these on sale. ... show more

  • Definitely not a $250 speaker
I really didn’t see what the big fuss was about, the speaker is ok, but for $250!! No way, I went to my local guitar center, and purchase the sterling MX8 black, pound for pound way better, sound clarity, appearance, not to mention $170 instead of $250, I’ll be returning this ASAP, I recommend you go and check them side by side, you’ll see what I’m talking about. ... show more
