  • Good book needs student's perspiration.
Very informative and helpful book! I read through the book 4 times front to back for 2 months, trying to understand each paragraph concept. Sometimes skip hard portions and go on progress to the end page. Second reading spends more time on the skipped section, thinking of how to apply to my field job. Even after 3 times, however, I could not get confidence in the exam success b/c the book is written narrative way which helps understand many concepts but not concise words that needs at final stage for exam. So I had to add Nate/ Ice book to fill the gap. Most of ac, heat pump and electric portions were touched. And then, back to this yellow book, 4th time got much easier progress and confidence came on me. In the exam of heat pump, there are few questions out of the same sentences from the book. But best answers can be found through logics of thinking and my 2 years' experience. In my opinion, more than 80% of answers were considered correct on the exam. Please do not memorize but try to understand concepts in the book which is hard because of thinking. In that sense, YouTube and Googling search are fantastic friend to help make a picture of abstract meditation. Good luck everyone, Thank you for reading my humble story. ... show more

  • These books work.
This book is awesome. I studied it for 4 days along with some flash cards. Took the nate exam and passed it the first time. I was in hvac school for 5 weeks with no experience. Now I'm starting my career with my epa and gas heat and heat pump thanks to these books.

  • Study plus Field experience = Nate certified
Easy to read and understand. The nate exam is tricky. I highly recommend reading this several times front to back with at least 18 to 24 months of field experience before taking this exam. The Nate exam is 100 questions. Fifty percent of the questions are based on field experience and trouble shooting. This book does not contain all the answers that will be on the exam. Need field experience. ... show more

  • Out of date
I took the NATE A/C & Heatpump exam yesterday. I had read this entire book before the test as preparation and I can attest that most of the material in the test was not covered in this book. The book has great information, but I would not recommend it as actual test preparation.
