What a great kit. Gifted this to my boys at Christmas, and it took them a bit to decide to try it--when they did, we discovered how easy it is and how much fun. It comes with a little booklet that explains each tip and how to use it. Just plug it in and start experimenting, and soon the creative juices were flowing. My son is making a birthday gift for a friend. I would suggest making sure you also purchase some plain wood items so you can start burning right away. I had purchased a whittling kit as well, so fortunately we had wood blocks on hand to try with. They can use the lower setting to burn leather items, looking forward to trying that out. We also plan to use a stencil set and plain wood ornaments to create ornaments to gift grandparents next Christmas. This would be fun to use as part of a Cub Scout activity. Horrible product. Do not purchase. Used once for 15 seconds and the tip melted to pieces inside it after. The tool is made of weak plastic anyways. I opened the box and was immoderately disappointed and horrified when it melted
