These plastic containers are a perfect size for many purposes, like storing small amounts of cosmetic creams for travel, storing small items like thumb tacks, buttons, earrings, etc. I tested them and they seemed to be leak proof, with a brief test to see if water leaked out, and it didn't. I don't know if they would hold up with watery liquids in an airplane during pressurization, or if knocked about in luggage, so would probably stick to storing creams and balms, and put in a ziploc bag just in case of leakage.
