- EXPANDABLE Attach multiple rolls together using the stainless steel clips at each end. Note: An electric fence does NOT have to make a circle, and the clips at the end of the net are not required to connect.
- IN THE BOX: (1) 48"H x 164'L electrifiable fence with 13 built-in PVC posts; instruction booklet; repair kit; warning sign. SOLD SEPARATELY: Fence energizer; FiberTuff supports (for ends and corners); walk-through gate; voltage tester.

Description
At Premier 1, we’ve been providing electric fencing, sheep and goat supplies, clippers and shearers, livestock ear tags, poultry supplies and expert advice for over 40 years! Unlike big farmstores, we offer relatively few products, which we use every day. So we know our products much better than others know theirs. And long after (years, not months) our fence reaches your door, we’ll still be here to support you. USA’s most trusted electric netting source! Premier’s on-farm staff (in Iowa) is ready to help you get started. For over 40 years, Premier 1 Supplies has been the gold-standard for portable electric fences and expert advice across the USA. Because we field-test our products, we can be sure they work as described. Electric Chicken Net is no exception. This 48" tall (installed) fence will contain chickens, ducks, geese and most domestic livestock. When properly energized, electric netting will deter coyotes, foxes, bears, raccoons and stray dogs. White PVC posts are built into the mesh every 13.6 ft. Electric Chicken Net is available in two lengths: 164 ft or 82 ft. Important! Electric fence is a psychological barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Scared or starved animals may escape or become entangled. On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. The first time you introduce poultry or livestock to the fence, you should be available to watch them. That way, if one were to get caught in the fence, you can turn the power off and get them loose. Compare Premier 1’s grid spacings with others. 2" x 3" mesh openings at the bottom of the fence reduce the chance of escape. 48" tall is best for active birds that like to fly such as Leghorns and Buttercups. And the taller 48" net is more likely to discourage large predators such as coyotes and dogs. Birds will fly over a fence if there is insufficient feed, too crowded, or if they’re trying to avoid fights. Some hens are just plain stubborn and refuse to “get with the program”. If there’s an escape problem, we find it’s usually led by a hen or two with the rest simply following along. Identifying her and clipping the flight feathers on one wing usually solves this problem. This does not have to be done for the whole flock. The same “unroll and then unfold” process applies to all electrified nets. Minimal strength or skill needed. Extra supports such as FiberTuff step-in posts are useful at corners, curves and ends. Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation. The most common problem is that the lowest “hot” strand has been caught around one of the metal spikes on the line post and is causing a short. The net must be at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. metal posts, existing fences, spikes on support posts). Note: Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. The horizontal strands are energized (except for the bottom one that rests on the grass) by a fence energizer. When chickens or ground-based predators touch it, they receive a high-voltage shock from the brief electric pulse—and learn to avoid it. This is netting’s biggest negative. Too much green grass or weed contact lowers the voltage of the fence. To overcome: A good rule of thumb is to buy an energizer with more joule output than you’ll think you need. When the fence pleases, most folks will buy more fence—and need additional output. Choosing the best fence energizer? Poultry, due to the nature of their legs and minimal body weight, have much higher resistance to electricity than a cow, horse, pig or dog. And the fence, due to its low-to-the-ground nature, is prone to high weed contact. So low output units usually disappoint. We recommend using a pulse-style unit (0.6J or larger) for up to 3 rolls. Units with less joule output may work for 1 to 2 rolls of netting if grass contact is kept to a minimum.
