  • Very high quality. Work very well in a 3/4" bench hole.
Style: Holdfast
Using these with thick, nearly 3 " thick bench and 3/4" diameter dog holes. They work perfectly one hit and bang their set one hit and they're loose. This bench is very old over 50 years and doesn't have a lot of dog holes. I'm changing that. Using hold fasts and dogs. No wood vise here!! These are heavy and great quality. ... show more

  • A Workbench Necessity
Style: Holdfast
One of the most valuable and essential woodworker's tools to own. Simple in design and operation, they make your projects and your life infinitely less difficult. These in particular are built solid, work great, and will most likely last a lifetime. I (and a few other people) did have to make minor modifications to the contact surfaces because they were too rough for use on the finished timber I work with, however, they were insignificant. A quick swipe or two with a flap disk on my angle grinder and a little primer/paint and problem solved. You could easily create the same results with a file if needed. I have zero regrets about this purchase. ... show more

  • Very useful
Style: Bench dog stops
These work very well as a base with a palm router as well as stands for staining.

  • Nice holdfasts ruined by thick paint, work much better once paint is stripped
Style: Holdfast
Half the reason a holdfast works is friction, the thick paint on these makes them slick and provides a poor grip in the bore even when hammered hard repeatedly. Once the paint is stripped they work a lot better.

  • Best investment for a wood working bench
Style: Holdfast
These do what they are meant to do which is Hold your piece and Fast. Loosening is just as fast. I used these recently to lock down pieces that needed nails removed and then cut with a jigsaw. They did not vibrate lose which can happen with Quick release squeeze clamps. Sturdy, value, quality

  • Dead simple and convenient
Style: Holdfast
I didn’t realize how helpful these are until I bought them. Easy to set and disengage. Low profile limits snagging of electrical cords, etc. Finish is kind of rough and will mar soft woods or finished surfaces. The easy fix is to put a small square of smooth plywood beneath arm before setting. (I would do this anyway to prevent denting the wood.) Provided you have a bench with dog holes, these should be one of your first purchases as you build your shop. Much more cost-effective than yet another clamp. ... show more
