  • Good Tool
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
A good tool but I just had issues using it with the saw so I returned it.

  • Gets tricky if the workpiece is longer than distance between the blade and end of the table
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
For full disclosure, 3 days ago was my first time using a table saw, and after making some cross cuts, needed to get a taper cut. This jig was pretty easy to use, and most importantly it made my taper cut pretty feasible. The only issue I faced was that my workpiece was longer, and the jig, supported against the rip fence, was only supported only half way, had to very carefully support the piece on a jerry rigged extension, and push it through carefully. In any case, without this eminently affordable jig, I would have been at a loss as to how I was going to get a taper cut. I am wondering if the support that goes against the rip fence could be extended on the other side of the hinge, maybe 6 to 12 inches. That would not interfere with the operation of the jig I think. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
I build small barrels and old time wood butter churns. I built my own taper jig but I needed one with maximum repeatability. This jig is strong, lightweight and stays where I set it. It is perfect for me!

  • Bad Design
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
Bought this for a birthday gift for family member starting out, thinking it’d be easier for him initially, and instead of making his own jig. Device is a bit flimsy, but that’s what you get for your money these days. The use of round head bolts to hold the stop in place has to be one of the stupidest designs I’ve seen. Placement of wood along the rail is automatically out of flush due to the head of the bolt protruding from the rail wall, creating a gap other reviewers have mentioned. I cut a short piece of 1x and ran wood screws from the other side of the rail to hold it in place. You’ll benefit from using a feather jig in a miter slot and bring it in snug against the cut piece to ensure the it stays snug against the fence. Tool tends to wander otherwise, as lightweight as it is. Years ago I made a crosscut sliding jig with slot rails attached, complete with adjustable angle rest and stops for better accuracy. There are dozens of patterns online now for making your own, and likely better than mine. Lastly, to get around the challenge of cutting so close to the jig at the end of your pass, attach a longer stop, and use a straight piece of scrap wood as a spacer between your cut piece and the rail. You’ll complete the cut further up on the pass, and further away from the blade. ... show more

  • Lightweight
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
Easy to assemble. Haven't used it yet but I don't foresee any reason why there should be any problem. It's lightweight and quality construction. Wouldn't use it where I had to apply a lot of pressure but for average light work it should be just fine. Right after I got the notice of shipment for the Powertech I found my old heavy duty jig from 1975. I don't need two jigs so I really wanted to find something wrong with the Powertech so I cold return it. Couldn't find anything wrong so I have to keep it and now I have two jigs. Oh well. ... show more

  • Dangerous
Style: Taper Cutting Jig
I found this jig to be difficult to accurately adjust, especially while working multiple pieces sequentially. Adding any firmness while in use easily causes the jig to rack between the blade and saw fence, causing the jig to bind, catch the blade and kick. I'm a seasoned woodworker and I have to rate this flimsy tools as being unsafe and inaccurate. ... show more
