So heres an honest review. It came with everything. TOTAL plug and play. Took 10 minutes, ready to roll. Plastic stuff yes but nothing that threatens performance, very solid, safe steel deck. NICE looking machine too. So tonight I wanted to see what the hype was. First off if you get ANY machine with one speed. Engage. Dont half engage, thats gonna wear stuff out. So that time came, Im like is this motor gonna start. I heard these ones are powerful. Yes it did.. After oil I let it sit for a bit. Two pulls it fired up like something Ive never seen in a push self propelled mower. Boom...now thats a motor. So I let it run. I ENGAGE and wasnt ready for it. That thing said dude get ready. It nearly pulled me off my porch. Made my day. It wants to Go.......Id recommend. ... show more

    • Problematic cutting height adjustment

The height adjustment lever binds against the wheel at the three highest settings. It's usable at the third highest setting, but the lever constantly rubs against the wheel, probably making it harder to push. If you have to pull it backward, it binds against the tread pattern, causing the wheel to drag and leave divots in your grass. It the highest cutting setting, the lever is basically a brake, with the wheel unable to turn at all. The picture is the second highest setting. This one problem cancels out whatever good qualities the mower has. If you like your grass at a healthy length, don't buy this mower. UPDATE, a few weeks later: I was contacted by the seller to resolve this problem. After closer inspection, I realized the problem was a broken prong on a bracket that supports the adjustment lever (and not a terrible design as I had previously assumed). I asked if they could provide a new part, and they did. It took about 5 minutes to swap out the broken part with the new one, and now it works perfectly. While I would prefer to have received a non-broken product, I really appreciate how it was resolved. Changed from 1 star to 4 stars. ... show more

    • Bad product from a very bad seller - BUYER BEWARE !!
This PowerSmart mower looked like good value so I bought it and it shipped direct from the seller. Within a week the rubber skirt at the rear of the mower that protects operator from flying stones or debris came off. Amerisun Inc., shipped a replacement that took a month and they're in IL, and I'm in TX. Literally a week within the 12 months warranty the pull start mechanism broke. They did not respond promptly via Amazon customer support from the seller. I tried to call their customer service direct and put on hold for over an hour when I finally got a chance to leave a message. They did not return the call then and for 3 more times I left a message. They never answer their phone. They never responded to direct email as given on their website. Finally I had to complain via Amazon and after more than 1 month Amerisun, Inc., responded and over the following weeks of back and forth attempts to get the machine serviced with new parts they finally offered a replacement or a refund. I opted for a refund as the grass doesn't stop growing in summer and this company does not have a service center in TX or nearby state and, they essentially have no customer support when their machines malfunction. I had lost faith in PowerSmart and the distributor. However, they will only give a refund if I ship the mower back to them in Chicago Illinois at my expense, estimated by UPS Store at $150. The problem is that it is now a used mower and even if I drain the gasoline out there still remains fumes and neither UPS, FedEx or common carriers will handle it now being "hazardous". The importer of this China made piece of **** , Amerisun Inc., clearly cannot service or repair their faulty machines and will not accept responsibility by not responding to requests for help. I have finally spoken to Amazon customer service who have contacted Amerisun on my behalf. Hopefully Amerisun Inc., will do the right thing and refund in full. Then there is the 3 year protection plan that I purchased with the mower at $48.99 from Asurion who would not help in this matter as that the mower was still under the manufacturer's warranty when the problem came about. I haven't shopped for a mower in 15 years, but it was time as my last mower was tired. I went looking at my local big box store and was shocked to find that they didn't carry a single gas-powered mower (CA). My yard can get pretty rough, thick weeds and gopher mounds, so I need a tough mower. The battery powered models are all plastic it seems. So I went with this one, partly because of the good reviews, (only 4 reviews when I bought it) and also because it was the only one with an all-steel deck. So I hurried and ordered it, before it was too late. It arrived and like others said, nothing to assemble, just took it out of the box, unfolded/tightened the handle, added oil and gas and it fired on the first pull. It cut the lawn with ease; the self propelled feature is nice, I've never had that before although I look at extra features as more things that can break. Hopefully parts are readily available and will be for a long time, but who knows? But for now, based on first impressions, I am very pleased with this purchase. ... show more

The Good: this was relatively put to get and took 5 minutes to set up. I use it set up for mulching so I didn’t need the chute. A quick prime and it cranked on the second pull and the first pull after that. The mow quality was what I expected and didn’t hesitate in my thicker grass. The bad: the rubber flap on the back of the machine lasted about 5 minutes before being caught in the blade and ripped to pieces. It was too long and only designed for the mower moving forward. It was no big deal as I mowed for an hour and a half without anything being kicked out the back of the mower. Conclusion: I am satisfied with this mower and hope it lasts for several seasons. I still hate mowing grass. ... show more

This rating is based on the functionality of the mower and the customer service. The first lawnmower I received had a damaged wheel, presumably due to handling. When I reported this to customer service they immediately sent a replacement. The lawnmoverworks well and is easy to use.
