My son is 8 and weights around 70 pounds. He says he does not feel any difference from having them on his skates as compared to not having them on at all. The weights do not stay directly over the laces. No matter how tight I get them they sag down over his toes by the end of practice. I bought these for my 11 yr old and he loves how it feels when he takes them off to play. He feels like he is lighter on his feet and faster. When he wears them he feels like he has to skate harder to move, which is the whole point. Definitely worth a try.

After receiving the weights, I almost wanted to return them because they felt light. I didn't think they will help much with my son's skating. But I decided to have him try for couple of weeks first. He didn't feel anything different on ice with the weights and skates normally without any interference. The weights stay on the skates very well after an hour practice. After removing them 2 weeks later, my son felt much lighter when skating and can skate faster now. It blows my mind that such small weights can make this huge difference. Constantly falling off while skating, you have to literally wrap multiple layers of tape just to keep them attached. Don’t waste your money!!!!

    • Like 1lb weights better than the 1/2 pound ( both need back straps included in price)

On the 1/2 pound had to buy my own straps to wrap around back of the skates so weights didn’t shift to the toe of the skate where as the 1lb weights come with straps .So I liked the 1lb weights better than the 1/2 lb .Need to include straps for both weight sizes.
