My 8 year old loves playing music on just about any instrument she can get her hands on. She was so excited with this violin. Once we polished up the bow, it was instantly a success. She did break a string pretty quickly, and the bow hair seems to be on the thin side so it's sparring in some spots. But overall, this is a great violin for kids, or beginners. ... show more

I was extatic to get this violin. I read a lot of the comments both good and bad and took a chance and purchased the violin. When it arrived I was very excited to open the contianer and take a look at my brand new, beautiful violin. So here's where it goes all wrong: Here's what I found inside the violin case - The 2nd bow was missing; The 4 extra strings were missing; The 2nd Rosen container was missing; The Manual was missing and 0ne string was completely unattached to the violin. I don't do reviews - ever. In this case I decided I needed to take the time and let y'all know about my experience. I got this and it looked great, but the instructions were hard to follow as a beginner, didn’t come with the bridge or the second bow. So I can’t even play it until I now get a bridge for it. Instead of being able to get it and start learning.

My daughter just started music lessons and this is perfect. Quality was way better than I hoped for, shopping online is somewhat sketchy, but I read the reviews and bought it, glad I did. Her teacher helped her set it up and they are working on breaking it in. She loves the sparkle in the black, it's not TOO obvious but enough that she knows it's there.     • Loose strings on bows, loose tuning pegs, but good enough to get started

I got this as a starter violin for my kid because they wanted to give it a try, and I didn't want to pay a lot for something they might play a few times and decide they didn't want to continue. Had a few issues with it when setting it up for use: 1) The tuning pegs were extremely loose and would not hold their positions when tuning. Even after pushing them as hard as I could, they would still loosen themselves, so the tuning process took a long time having to repeatedly re-adjust. I ended up having to use fine tuning to its limits to not disturb the pegs once I could find a spot where they stuck. The tuner it comes with has to be attached to the violin in order to tune correctly. 2) The bows had loose hairs that would not pull taut, despite tightening the bow as far as I could without threatening to damage it. They hung down and would catch on the other violin strings while bowing. I eventually had to cut them off with scissors. 3) The bridge had no notches for the strings, so I basically had to eyeball where they were supposed to go. There were no instructions on how to set things up. Otherwise, it gets the job done and does play and learn. You get what you pay for, so as long as you aren't expecting much, it's a decent way to give the violin a try. 3 stars for quality, but 4 for the price. ... show more

    • Missing half the stuff

Came in non-damaged box. Looks like perhaps it was opened and returned as a different product. This one had plastic strings like a kid toy, not metal. No replacement strings at all (missing 4 sets), missing 1 whole Bow, missing 1 Rosin case. Instructions not helpful for beginners at all, still trying to find out how to tune it or place bridge so it doesnt slip, been 3 hours so far no success. I'm thinking it was just a scammed return that somehow was sent as New In Box but then that means the QA team sucks. Either way I have to return it even though we waited a week and band class already started. ... show more
