I recently purchased the Portzon 2 lb weights and overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase. The weights are a good value for the price and they're well-made, with a solid feel to them. They're also very versatile – I've used them for a variety of exercises and they've worked well for all of them. One of the things I like most about the Portzon weights is their size and shape. They're small enough to be easily held in the hand, but they're also heavy enough to provide a decent challenge. The hexagonal shape also makes them easy to grip and prevents them from rolling around. I do have a couple of minor complaints about the weights, however. Firstly, the rubber coating is a bit thin and flimsy, and I'm not sure how long it will hold up to regular use. Secondly, the weights do have a slight odor to them, which is a bit off-putting. These are minor issues, however, and overall, I'm happy with my purchase. In summary, the Portzon 2 lb weights are a good value and well-made, with a solid feel and a convenient size and shape. They're versatile and work well for a variety of exercises, although the rubber coating is a bit thin and they do have a slight odor. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase and would recommend these weights to others.

I was skeptical before buying after reading se negative reviews about these showing up broken or with sharp pieces sticking out of them, but that didn't happen with me. They came in excellent shape amd I have used them many many times for short workouts with no problems whatsoever. I don't throw them around, though, nor do I try to be overly rough on them. I am happy with the purchase. These are exactly what I was looking for!

I debated and debated about whether I wanted to buy the 4 lb weights because of the color. I have mostly jewel-toned weights and I didn't want to buy the same color I already had. I eventually decided to go with the lighter blue, even though I was concerned they wouldn't "match" my set and would show wear after awhile. But I was pleasantly surprised when I got the weights because the lighter blue was darker than pictured -- more jewel-toned, thank goodness! I would say more of a Cerulean color. I've used them twice at the time of this review. Another review mentioned they felt "sticky." I definitely understand what they are trying to say because they did have somewhat of a "sticky" feel during the first use, but nothing prohibitive. After some use, that sticky feel will definitely go away, I have no doubt, because I could already tell a difference by the second time I used them. Eventually I'll want to get pair at 6 or 7 lbs, and I would definitely buy another Portzon pair.

The weights are good quality, but the grip area is small for a man. I am not a large man, nor do I have large hands, but the edges of my hand (index finger to pinkie) can barely fit in the grip area. The grip area needs to be at least an inch wider, probably a little more for large hands to fit.

I purchased the 10lb. dumbbells. These weights have a super thick grip area. If you have small hands like myself, then you might have the same problem as me. I’ve had quite a few pairs of Neoprene weights. Most of them have a larger dumbbell and a slender barrel, so I was expecting these to be the same. Unfortunately, this set has a much thicker barrel. It’s a little too big for me to fully grip these. For example, my thumb barely touches my index finger when wrapped around the barrel, so I don’t feel fully secure holding these. I typically prefer neoprene weights over metal ones because they’re more comfortable on my hands. I’m still able to get a grip on these because of the neoprene, but since the barrel is bigger it’s a bit awkward to hold. Also, one of my weights had several little tears in it. Not sure if that will become a problem with wear and tear, but I’m guessing it will. Overall, I think these dumbbells are just ok. The purple color is accurate and much prettier than getting the metal weights. I don’t have another set of 10lb weights to share the size difference, but I do have a set of 5lb weights that had a similar size barrel as my last set of 10 lbs. I’m including a few pictures, so you can see the different size of barrels. Hope you found my comments and photos helpful.

I do a lot of high rep weight exercises in cardio routines and in Pilates strengthening on the mat 5 months ago I finally made myself go up from 3-lb hand weights, but didn't yet feel equal to 5-lb ones. These are just right. I use them daily and feel challenged (female, age 70, former trainer). I like purple, and these neoprene ones feel good in my hands. I recommend them.
