Description

The Porter-cable PCC740LA 1/2" cordless impact wrench features a powerful motor which produces 260 ft-lbs of torque for heavy applications. It offers a maximum of 1,650 rpm's for driving large fasteners quickly, with a full variable speed trigger for precision control. The 1/2" hog ring allows for quick and easy socket changes. It also has a pro grade lithium battery for long life and maximum performance, along with a led light which helps improve visibility in dark areas. This impact driver is designed with a chemical resistant housing for automotive friendly settings. It also offers the user overmold grips for comfort during use. I have many 20V Porter Cable tools and the smaller batteries that cane with them will work with the impact driver and all chargers that came with other tools will work with this battery. This is my second impact, 1st one lasted a year and 1/2,i decided to get another one cause this gun really impressed me, second one for some reason stopped working after a couple of months, i got ahold of customer service and they sent me a new one hopefully this one lasts longer. I own a repair shop and I really need my tools, down side i had to wait 2 weeks for the replacement to arrive.for the price and customer service i will definitely recommend it. Most of the tools I own are Milwaukee. At one time Porter Cable was a great company so I thought why not give them a try. I gave it only 4 stars because.. 1. Value - the impact is variable speed but you cannot adjust torque. 2. No battery life indicator on the battery. I am use to having an indicator to tell how much battery life is left in the current charge. So it's guessing time when you go to use it. If I plan to use it for a larger project then I charge the battery the night before. 3. No dock for the battery. The charger attaches to the battery. Kind of DIY in my opinion. 4. Sockets are difficult to put on. I hope it loosens up over time. So it's more like a 3.5 star for these reasons. How does it work? Works great. Not a Milwaukee but it was cheaper. Since I use it for repair for personal vehicles and in restorations, I don't use it that often. So this is the same reason that I would also look at Harbor Freight as an alternative when I need a tool but won't be using it on a regular basis. In my case the Porter Cable was a step up and overall I am happy and a little disappointed. I could have spent much more on Milwaukee, been happier but perhaps spent more than I should have - this again this was a decent alternative. ... show more

This impact wrench is such a good deal, I bought one and gave it to a friend. I've used mine on car and tractor implement tools. Not having to rely on an air compressor saves me time (not waiting for the compressor to load) and allows me to work on things miles away from my shop. My life is better because of this impact wrench! The torque is incredible and the battery life is GREAT. I've used mine for four years or more with no problems. Durability, power and ease of use make it a winner for me. The only drawback is the size and weight. It's not ideal for tight areas, and requires a strong hand - still, well worth the money in my opinion. ... show more

Bought this primarily to assist with doing my own tire rotations - and it spins the wheel lug nuts off with ease. Went for this one rather than the dewalt as I've primarily got black and decker tools - you can make the batteries interchangeable with porter cable tools by cutting away a little bit of the plastic on the batteries. Bit stupid that b@d and pc (both effectively the same company) seem to insist on trying to block the battery compatibility between the two brands, imo. But, back to the tool - yep its great and works as advertised. Also bought a torque stick rated slightly below the torque spec for my car wheels to quickly zip the bolts back up without over tightening, then it's just a case of giving them a quick tweak with a torque wrench all round, and done. I'm sure this will also come in handy for various other DIY jobs on the car or other projects. ... show more
