We weren't even fishing. We had my buddy's sailboat down in Cabo on the way to La Paz. The water was so clear we could see about 10 feet down. We tossed the float in the water & watched all sorts of fish swim by. It was surprisingly entertaining! We moored up just off the harbor, but I can't wait to get this thing on the open seas. So easy to use (you just plop it in the water & take it out), so minimal, so inexpensive :) This is a really fun time if you're fishing or not.

Until I got a fishing float-tube (belly boat) I had no use for a small, portable, fish finder. I liked what I saw in this unit when it was listed in Vine program listings. Because a float-tube is quite small, the size and portability of a fish finder is quite important. This unit consists of the control screen, transducer with cable, transducer mount, float (transducer cable), lanyard, and instructions. When assembled (very easy to do), the whole unit only takes-up a small amount of space. Four AA batteries (not included) are required to power-up the fish finder. The instructions are really quite good too. I got to use the fish finder the other day, when I took my float-tube out for the first time. You have to figure out how you want to protect the control screen as, ironically enough, it is NOT waterproof (water resistant might be a stretch too). I tried ordering a clear case for this unit but found it was just a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit to large to fit. So I got a cell phone holder for a bicycle and adapted it for use on my float. I hope that will be safe enough for using the fish finder without getting it wet. Once I got going on the river, I positioned the transducer under the float about a foot down. I then trailed it behind me, by about six feet, as I rowed where I wanted to go. The day was quite sunny and I immediately found the screen (which looked so nice when I tested it inside my house - see pic) could barely be seen. I turned the backlight up to 100% and, sadly, found it made little difference. So I spent the next several hours alternately shading or moving the phone mount so I could (barely) see the screen. This is a shame to as the finder appears to do a great job of finding fish, and displaying useful information about the bottom and water temp. I did catch a nice catfish (first from my tube!) from the information displayed on the screen. I used the fish finder for a little over six hours (of constant use) and the battery life was fantastic. It only indicated one pixel dropped off the battery life indicator. Pros: Portability Accuracy * (as far as I can state without scientific testing) Battery life Displayed information Cons: Not waterproof (barely water resistant) Screen backlight is a big fail For the price I think this is worth consideration if you want something that is completely portable and of decent quality. If they had a better screen / backlight, and did something more to protect it from water, I would consider it a five star product. But as it stand, I think four stars is about as high as I would go.

I ordered this fish finder a couple of months ago, and my initial reaction right out of the box was that it seemed more durable and better quality than I had expected for the low price. I finally got to take it out on the lake this past weekend and was amazed at the accuracy! It’s compact and easy to use, has an easy-to-read screen, and the depth reading matched the fish finder my dad was using, which cost much more. It seemed to detect a couple more fish than the others used on the boat, but I'm not sure if that means this one is more accurate or if it's registering other items as fish. Only time and a few more fishing trips will tell. For the low price, this is definitely a great option. It works better than I was expecting, and I look forward to using it more!

I have a small 22'-deep stocked lake, and I needed to try to find out about the health of the lake and the fish in it. I knew there was a sunken boat in it (for fish habitat), but not where it was in the lake, so wanted to find that, too. I ordered this product to try to do those things, and am pleased with it. It is easy to set up and use, and it actually worked very well. I found the boat and saw multiple fish of different sizes, so it was successful. The only thing I would like different is some sort of sun shield that could maybe snap onto the main unit to help keep the sun off the screen on a sunny day. The device is easy to read and I spent a bunch of time just looking around from my pedal boat to see what I could see and try to take temperature readings of different areas of the lake. I can imagine this would be a fun activity for a family with children, to teach them about the world under the water. And for $49.99, I feel it is money well spent. I will come back with an edit if anything changes.

Works well so far. I did put it in a Ziplock baggie just in case I flipped the boat. Comes complete and worked right out of the box. Not as sensitive as my $1,000 one on the big boat but for this price and compact size it does the job.

This fish finder performs well and is a lot of fun. It keeps everybody entertained while waiting for the fish to bite. This finder shows fish swimming across the screen when it finds them. The product is well built and is very user friendly. The screen is in color and large enough to easily see what the transducer is picking up. It lets you see “fish” swim across the screen as it finds them. Next to the fish icon is the depth of the fish. It can tell you the depth and type of bottom as well. It has a long enough cable so you can take it anywhere on the boat. It scans an area under the boat at about a 45-degree angle from the transducer. The shallower the water the more accurate the readings are. You can also see the bottom terrain and irregularities. On our first outing we saw something on the bottom that looked suspicious. We got out our underwater camera and saw a sunken boat. The finder has quite a few options and adjustments. The only thing it’s missing are rechargeable batteries. We’re starting to run out of AAA batteries and this one takes 4. I’ve never had a fish finder before so I’m not an expert but this unit does a great job on a lake for sure. It’s definitely worth the money to increase the enjoyment of our time fishing and entertaining. It does everything we need.
