  • Awesome! Be sure to saturate the ceiling quite a bit, use the proper angle, and you will love it! Awesome! Be sure to saturate the ceiling quite a bit, use the proper angle, and you will love it!
This is an absolutely fantastic product. Before this product had been released, I had removed the entire first floor’s popcorn from my house with a water sprayer and a metal scraper. It was a nightmare to say the least. Even with a “Dexter like” plastic sheeting setup beneath, the mess was unimaginable. Additionally, I needed to maneuver a ladder to stand on which just adds to the time it takes to finish a room; my arms are only so long. After that experience, I had been procrastinating on the 2nd floor of the home for months. By the grace of God, I talked with the creator of the Popeeze product on a message forum while it was still in its prototype stage. He told me to keep my eyes peeled on Amazon for the release and sale of the product. It finally gave some encouragement to finish the rest of my project. I’m happy to say that I’m now done with popcorn ceilings for good and I wish Popeeze could have hit the market a year earlier so I could’ve avoided so much wasted time, anguish, and mess. I estimate that using Popeeze compared to a hand-held scraper saved me an estimated 4Xs as much time in the actual scraping process and clean up. On top of that, I undoubtedly had half the amount of sanding to do because of its precision. I only created two gouges in the drywall and that was because I had trouble determining the best angle the first time I tried using it. A bit of advice: 1. Use a dust bags in your shop vac. Otherwise, the wet material will dry in places you don’t want it to dry. You’ll go through a few bags, but believe me it’s worth it. 2. Start by holding Popeeze as close to horizontally as possible to the ceiling with minimal pressure. Then, slowly increase the angle toward 45 degrees maintaining slight pressure pushing forward. In other words, your front hand on the pole stays put and applies pressure while your back hand slowly drops down toward the floor. At its optimal angle, it will start to glide and remove the popcorn effortlessly (provided you have a sufficient amount of water soaked in). I did this every time I placed it against the ceiling; if you start with an angle that’s too extreme, it will likely dig straight into the drywall. Bottom line: it’s worth every penny. *** Popcorn dries quickly after spraying with water - after about 5 mins or so you’ll start to notice and scraping can be more difficult. Making sure the section you’re scraping has enough saturation is a key component. Angle is important, but w/o enough water it won’t matter. Even if you’re not using Popeeze, this becomes apparent after some experience with this DIY project. I learned it the hard way with a hand scraper before Popeeze hit the market. With most lower rated reviews you read, they likely hadn’t ever experienced the nuances of the project and made some errors which either damaged the product or their ceiling in the process. I did plenty of damage to my first floor with the hand scraper before I got the hang of things. ... show more

  • Just scrape the regular way-Save Your $
I really wanted to believe that this would save a lot of mess, but in the end it broke, I was scraping just as hard and as furiously as though I didn’t even use it. It clogged and ruined my shop vac and I was left cleaning that out and having to soak it and but a new filter and still the part broke. While the concept is ideal, the functionality is lacking. I appreciate the invention overall but it needs refining. This is a great concept. It just needs to be tested and perfected. I think the plate rather than being plastic needs to be metal and I think there needs to be specific instructions for either using a shop vac that you don’t care about or how to clean your shop back afterward. ... show more

  • Makes quick work of popcorn ceiling removal
I was skeptical at first, thinking it would be like the Suck Kut on Wayne’s World. It actually works well, though! First, you’ll still make a mess, no way around that, so cover your floors well. This does capture like like 80% of the mess, though. Second, where it really shines is that it is made for this job and as such does a great job removing the texture without dinging up the ceiling. The blade is a bit sacrificial in that regard but it means less touch up later. Third, make sure you soak the texture (not excessively, use a misting sprayer) AND let the water soak in. 15-20min otherwise it’ll still be dry near the drywall and make it hard to get a completely clean scrape. Cons: still messy, blade does wear out and it can be a tad awkward in corners. ... show more

  • What to Expect from this tool
After seeing some of the reviews on this tool, I'm not sure were some of the comments are coming from. Here is my thought from a guy that is not a Pro but like to think I am. That being said, lets look at this tool, and what it did for me. If your looking for a tool that will keep the remodeling / Popcorn removing clean there is not one out there. What I found with trying different things with this tool is that you can use it either dry or wet, but if you want a smooth scraping/removal then you will need to wet the ceiling down. The blade is plastic and does not run smooth on dry Popcorn ceiling, This tool was great for me were I didn't need to remove everything off the ceiling. I was able to maintain a texture look to the ceiling while taking off the popcorn. I did try a test run to see how it would do on removing everything but had to make sure the ceiling was wet to do so. I'm not sure how some have had problems with the hole clogging up, did not have that problem with that. I have tried the old school, blade with the shop vac setup and what a pain it is and makes a terrible mess, were with this tool mess was minimum and easy to use. Adding a handle to I have not tried but when I was using it I was on a short platform and was hand holding it and performed like I wanted and needed it to. When using this with a painted ceiling I had no problems. So not sure were all the struggle with this tool is coming from. For me it has been a game changer and have several people wanting me to do there ceiling since I have this tool and it is quick and is not as messy when doing it. One thing do a test run to see what you need to do to adjust for what you want, Two, remember if your remodeling there will be a mess, but if you use this tool right it is very minimum, drop a drop cloth down, pre-prep your area and it wont take long to clean up when your done. ... show more

  • Good for getting the bulk, but definitely need touch ups Good for getting the bulk, but definitely need touch ups
It's hard to get a good angle using it on a pole, and doesn't work very well around the edges. It actually kind of messed up my ceiling trying to use it on the edges (first picture.) I think it'd be better if the blades were metal rather than plastic, and maybe angled a bit. It did really well in the middle of the ceiling and I got a good long scrape. I think I'll use it to get the middle of the rooms and then touch up whatever it misses with a hand scraper. It handles the mess VERY well. I scraped a different part of the ceiling without it and there was dust EVERYWHERE, but with this there's just a couple of stray pieces (second picture.) Nothing that can't be easily vacuumed up. Overall this is great for big areas and really takes care of the mess, but don't expect it to do the entire job for you. ... show more

  • Tough enough for the task
I was weary of ordering this because a lot of reviews said how flimsy the construction was. I noticed this flimsiness immediately upon opening the package, and I almost returned it right there. I'm glad I didn't though. This was for a job I was doing removing 2200 sq ft of popcorn ceiling from a house in the middle of nowhere. I had never done this before, and the nearest hardware store was over an hour away, so I was bringing every tool I thought I could need. I thought the scraping blade on this thing was kinda narrow, so I brought along a wider tile scraper. I also brought metal hand scrapers and vacuum accessories to try too, trying to copy some YouTubers I had seen taping these contraptions together. I also brought along a drywall sander, which ended up being a lifesaver later on. Ultimately, though, this flimsy thing was the best tool. The width of the blade is about the perfect amount you want to try to control as you plow through the popcorn sludge. Any wider and it's really easy to miss spots due to surface irregularities or to let a corner start to gouge into the drywall/mud. Plastic is also a good material for that reason, less gouging. I ordered four extra blades on top of the two that come with, but I only ended up needing ONE for the whole house. I'm guessing some people who broke theirs tried to use this on painted ceilings, or they didn't spray enough water on beforehand. If you have a painted popcorn ceiling, just be prepared for it to be much harder. First, take a moment to cry, then buy a drywall sander. ... show more

  • Not worth the extra weight/time/money - Just use a 6" putty knife and tarp to catch it all! Not worth the extra weight/time/money - Just use a 6" putty knife and tarp to catch it all!
We anxiously awaited the arrival of our POP EEZE popcorn ceiling removal tool. In fact, we also purchased 4 replacement blades in our excitement and commitment to the task at hand. Woo HOO!!! We were READY. Upon arrival, everything was included in the package and it was easy to put together. We attached POP EEZE to our Wet/Dry vac and began. First, we soaked the ceiling with water from a garden sprayer. Then we soaked it again. ONWARD! Holding up the POP EEZE (attached to the vacuum) was a CHORE! It caught most of the popcorn, but there was still a lot falling on the floor (which we had already covered with plastic). It was also very time consuming to try to finagle (I love that word!) the entire contraption around a small bathroom. And all of the "schplop" that gets in the vacuum has to be cleaned out, too. I gave up. Then I thought to myself - what if I just use a 6" putty knife to scrape this stuff off the ceiling? It weighs very little, I already have the plastic on the floor, so why not try it? Well, let me tell you - It was messy - make sure you cover the entire floor including the lower part of your walls - I also wore a shower cap to keep it out of my hair - but it was FAST and easy! Just keep those ceilings WET! After we finished each room (we did an entire condo) we rolled up the plastic sheeting from the outside edges to the center, then threw the plastic away. Do yourself a favor - do not purchase this! It's a waste of your time, money, and arm strength. And one more thing - either cover your shoes with plastic bags or go barefoot. I ruined a pair of shoes during the first day. Final thoughts - "Simple is good; Simple is our friend." Don't overthink this easy but messy task! ... show more

  • TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK! BROKE WITHIN MINUTES.
Clumbsy to use. Hard to work overhead. AND it is a flimsy piece of plastic junk. You have to get the popcorn ceiling so wet in order for this flimsy piece of plastic to be able to remove the acoustic that you damage the drywall that you're trying to preserve. Once you get the angle where the plastic blade "may" actually work somewhat, the plastic blade bends and digs into the drywall causing difficult to repair damage to the drywall. Once you get the hang of it, which does not take long, the plastic coupler on the extension handle breaks as this tool cannot handle the weight of the shop vac hose and the light pressure needed to scrape the ceiling. You can use the tool without the extension pole, but it is a poor tool compared to a 14" drywall taping knife that will give you much more control over your scraping so you don't damage the drywall under the popcorn. A high quality metal taping knife costs less and will take you less time even including the time it takes to lay out a drop cloth to facilitate clean up. My recommendation: Pass on this made in China "child's toy" being sold as an adult tool. The only thing that worked with this piece of junk was my 6 HP Shop Vac. But the tool kept folding and plently of waste hit the ground, so it was easier to just throw this piece of junk in the garbage and scrape the ceiling(s) like the pros show you how on Y-tube videos. And notice how not one pro uses this piece of junk. I did not get to my project until the 32nd day, so I could not return this piece of junk. Save yourself the time and frustration and pass on this PIECE OF JUNK. ... show more
