Please read before buying! Let's start with the good... the pictures look great and it's the perfect size. Right? That's why you're reading this. That's where the good ends and the bad begins. The tank does look great; it really does but from a practical standpoint it is terrible. Here's the deal... The all in one filter system is terrible. It is not adjustable and it basically creates a toilet bowl swirl effect that is terribly unhealthy for most fish. It was stressing my tetras out and they began to die. So I thought, "Okay, I really want to make this work. I'm just going to buy a small filter or something and eliminate this all in one filter." That's when I realized what I noticed when I was setting up initially... The lid (entire top cover) does not come off. It makes doing anything with the tank a messy chore. I figured I could deal with the mess but when I wanted to change out the filter this unremovable top became a real problem. The standard/common filters won't simply hang on the back of this because the top doesn't come off. I tried a couple methods to reduce the filter flow and I was unhappy with everything I tried and I finally gave up. I also didn't want to deal with replacement filters when this one went bad since it was a unique fit for that specific tank. I realized if I didn't just move on to something else this tank was just going to be problem after problem. I then went to the pet store and bought a more traditional 13 gallon tank with a hang on the back filter and my fish are so much happier. ... show more

I was hesitant reading some of the reviews. However being I found a GLASS aquarium at this size and quality to be well worth the value. I tested the plastic vs glass with my knife in a corner no scratch it’s absolutely glass. The product page shown the tank only in C but temp on mine is F as in the picture. Had a great time letting my 9 year old son scroll through Amazon picking out the stuff in the tank for his Betta fish and building it with him. ... show more

Good starter aquarium. Easy to clean, and convenient since everything came with it. Only downside is the aerator is a little strong, even afger throttling it down.

The tank arrived heavily damaged due to the lack of packaging. The supplier put the pump, power supply etc. loose inside the glass tank with no protection, so during the delivery the power supply got thrown against the glass side and smashed the panel. How hard would it be to box all the accessories and bubble wrap them? Thereby ensuring rough handling by the delivery service would not have become an issue. The replacement arrived after a month and is a great tank. The Aquarium looks nice and is simple to install, the temp gauge is a plus, but needs an on/off switch, as the display is bright and does not need to be on 24/7. I have ordered a replacement, hopefully, that will arrive intact. ... show more

We bought this for our beta. It gets dirty quickly because of the weird filtration system so we clean it once a week. You will need a heater as it doesn’t come with one. Keep the water full so the flow isn’t too much for little fish. Other than that it’s perfect!

    • Nice looking tank but hard to use..
This tank was great looking in person however the black top piece doesn't completely remove making it hard to remove water of do a full tank cleaning The pump and air components inside were different than the provided instructions making it difficult to put together at first. The pump was constantly noisy causing a vibration noise in the lid of the tank regardless how it was oriented or arranged. Our tank also during the initial cleaning process started leaking water either from the tank itself or the tubing for the filter/aerator. We weren't able to determine exactly how/where the leak occured, so we ultimately returned the tank. ... show more

This Aquarium kit came with a hood, with lights, submersible Pump-Filter and thermometer. (No heater) It took a few minutes to figure out how get the "filter rigging" to work with the filter bed sitting above the waterline. (The water must drip through the filter bed) It's quiet. It's space saving: It's on my Kitchen counter, up against the wall. It's 8 gallons tall with a smaller foot print than a 5 gallon tank going horizontally.
