This product is one of the most beautiful things I have ever bought. It gives me such pleasure to sit and relax and watch the fish. The only thing I do not like about it is the top. They put everything in the top so it's tucked away, and that is completely useless. You cannot put anything in the top because it makes it impossible to take the top off to add fish or anything else. When setting up the tank the depth of the tank is so deep that you can hardly reach the bottom which makes it extremely difficult for someone who's short. Thank God I'm 6 ft tall because I could just barely reach the bottom. For a fish tank it is one of the most beautiful fish tanks I've ever seen, everyone compliments about it and says it's just extremely awesome. Just wish they would do something about the top because everything that should be in the top cabinet, sits out on a side table. Other than that I guess the pros and cons are about the same. So if you're short I cannot recommend you buying this tank cuz you'll never fit stuff in it cuz you won't be able to reach the bottom!. ... show more

Tank looks great but functions are very limited with the way top is made both on tank itself and top cover. Tank has to small of access.,hard to reach bottom of Tank due to height. Tank top cover holds pumps etc inside it which is great except to small of space to work in / place items. Feeding hole is to small also makes testing water hard to get to. Pump has issues as well . Pcs came broken . Overall set is not user-friendly. Would not recommend and will not buy again . Seller was not helpful and was quite rude when finally responding. Was shipped freight and we were not told of this. FedEx had issues delivering and was going to charge us extra for storage due to it. All and all a nightmare . ... show more

I watited 5 months for a review. I have 6 other tanks and 2 ponds. Over last 40 years, I have had over 30 tanks. I am an experienced fish hobbyist. This is the single most difficult tank I have ever had to clean and service. The set up is all wrong. It is unbelievably hard to change the water. The little box they have for holding all the elct units does not work. I cursed 5-6-7 times setting up the pump. And repeat it every time I clean the tank. PennPlax has to re-configure this. It is a stunning tank. This tank is only for devoted, experienced fish hobbyist. And then, patience. Forget that box for the electricals. Buy a 4 prong extension cord. And attached all your electricals to it. It makes it way easier. ... show more

This aquarium comes with a penn plax filter that is basically the only one that can be used as it fits the cut out on the top of the acrylic tank. The pump for the filter we received in the box, which looked brand new did not work at all. We had to go to our local aquarium store and get a replacement which cost us an additional 150 dollars. ... show more

Slow drip if we didn’t catch it before we left for going out of town would have dumped 50 gal of water on our 3rd floor and we would get a lawyer involved for 5 gal spill and the lesson of you get what you pay for I’ll walk away with a black eye. We bought this cylindrical tank for two of our Discus that decided they wanted to be a breeding pair. The aquarium looks fantastic, just as cool as the photos. The design creates a lot of headaches when you are setting up or maintaining. The inside of the aquarium itself can only be accessed through two relatively small ports on the top and it's depth make it nearly impossible to reach the bottom of the tank because you can't reach in past your shoulder (I'm 6'2" and had to place the airstone and the plants with a pair of BBQ tongs while standing on a stool). The tank does not come with a heater, which is fine, and it does come with a good air pump and a passable filter but the air pump keeps coming unattached because it is squeezed into a small "safety box" in the lid and the suction cups for the filter and the air tube keep coming off the sides of the tank, perhaps because of the curved surface (?). Now that it is all set up and running, I like it just fine, but I know when I have to do a take down or deep clean on it next, I'm going to be cursing again. Bottom line, how bad do you want a cylindrical tank? I would probably choose to deal with the hassles because the aesthetic is great, but my wife probably wouldn't let me because she was even more irritated than I was. ... show more
