UPDATED 1-star REVIEW 23Aug2023: Beware - poor product design and subpar customer support experience. About 1 year after purchasing, three month ago the first unit just simply stopped working over USB - it announced "powering down", and was subsequently undetectable when tested with several different computers, both directly and via hubs. Bluetooth still worked but the Poly software stopped detecting the device even when connected to BT, so I could not manage any of the features. Also, the sound quality over BT is noticeably worse as I mention in my first review, so I prefer to plug in directly. So I logged a case in May with Poly/Plantronics, and waited. And waited. And waited. Until I finally followed up and got a response. I submitted an RMA, sent the old unit back and received a new unit. It worked fine at first, so I didn't update my original five-star review. Fast forward three months to today, and the exact same thing happened - in the middle of the day, the unit announced "powering down" and subsequently would not be detected over USB. BT worked, but again, the Poly Lens software did not detect it. This was with a completely different laptop and USB hub than the first time. I went to the Poly website and found that they had been acquired by HP. Chatted with an HP support agent, explained my issue, was told I needed to upload the original invoice even though I'd provided it on the first case, and that HP didn't even have access to the details of the first case. I asked for either a refund, or a credit toward a different model, since it's clear this unit likely has a flawed USB design, and was told my only option was to receive the same model. I told them thanks but no thanks, and am now looking for a different speakerphone solution. ORIGINAL (5-star) REVIEW: Setting up a new home office, and I switched to a Mac Mini - I tried using my webcam's onboard mic, and my desktop speakers, but I was getting echoing and the mic wasn't great anyway. So I decided to get a proper speakerphone. After reading several reviews, this bubbled up to the top - it was usually in the middle or at the top of review rankings, and the flexibility of USB/Bluetooth and the ability to use as a power bank were big plusses. The fact that it looks nice didn't hurt. Pros: - Sound quality is great - not too tinny, a tiny bit boomy when people with deep voices speak, but manageable with volume (maybe also with EQ, I haven't tried yet). Music and videos sound decent, but since this is a mono speaker I wouldn't make this your go to leisure speaker. - Mic quality is much better than my old laptop mic, and way better than the Logitech webcam mic. - Very well made. Sleek and stylish, and it has some substantial heft without being a brick. Cons: - My only complaint is how fiddly the USB cable is to wrap up, but with practice it gets easier. Since it sits on my desk most of the time, it's not worth docking a star. Other: - I haven't used this wirelessly more than a couple hours, so I can't comment on battery life, but various reviews comment very favorably on battery life. - Haven't had to recharge my phone with this yet, so same deal, can't comment on recharge capacity. - Comes with a decent fabric/neoprene carrying case, if that matters to you. - Works without requiring drivers on both Mac and Windows, works fine over both USB-C and Thunderbolt hubs, and pairs easily via Bluetooth with both iPhone and iPad - A note about Bluetooth: While BT on this unit provides for decent sound and mic quality, the mic is a little scratchy. And BT will always be lower quality than a direct USB connection - it's much more susceptible to variables like placement, interference, and overcrowded channels, especially in this age of always-on BT connections like game controllers, printers, etc. as I have in my office. I've used pretty much all of the Jabra competitors (410, 510, 710 and even the 810) as well as the Sennheiser SP 220, so I've got some experience with these types of devices. To put things simply, this thing is excellent for the price. It is the only one out of all the above (except maybe the $500 Sennheisers and the $500 gigantic Jabra 810) where I can actually play music and enjoy it. All of the Jabras tune out the bass notes because they're typically not needed for conference calls, but it makes them not great for any other type of audio. This thing does all types of audio playback very well. No issues understanding anyone on calls, nobody has ever once complained about audio quality, and the build quality is quite frankly better than any of the Jabra offerings. It's on par with the Sennheiser. It has never once done anything buggy like unmuting itself or anything of that nature, you plug it in and it just works. Zoom, Skype, Slack, etc. have all picked it up automatically as the default device with no changing of settings either, which is a nice surprise. All of the buttons are touch buttons that respond exactly how you'd expect, no accidental button pushes or non-responsive buttons. It also has a "Rocket" button that can be programmed to do any of the following: Play/Pause media, Redial (mobile only), activate Siri, Google Assistant, etc., hold/resume call, or do a status check (Battery levels, connected to PC, etc.) which is a pretty cool feature. I used to ride hard for the Jabra Speak 510 (because it's honestly pretty darn good), but I won't be turning back after getting this Poly. Microphone quality is similar, the poly has much better audio playback quality, similar volume levels, and the build quality on the Poly is just miles ahead. The Jabra looks and feels like a cheap plastic toy in comparison. NOTE: All of my testing was done via wired USB-A connection to a Macbook Pro and a nice Windows computer.     • It wasn't as loud as I wanted it to be.

The battery life was superb. Very good. Had no problems with it. The loudness of the speaker when playing music is not loud at all. Even when you turn the volume all the way up for music it is not very loud. The loudness when hearing an individual on the other end is not very loud. If you're kind of in a noisy condition, It will be hard to hear people talking to you. If you definitely try to use it in a vehicle it will not be very loud. Because the volume is low. Even when you turn the volume all the way up it is not very loud. When I wasn't allowed area family member said that they get here noise in the background and also I sounded low. So one moment I might be kind of clear for them. And then the next moment in the same noisy condition my voice decreases. I don't know why it does this but it may be the noise canceling. But it causes my voice to rise up a little and then decrease a little bit when the person is listening to me. Also, when I'm listening to other people sometimes their voice gets louder and sometimes their voice gets low. I don't know why this is. If you're in a super quiet room would absolutely no noise. Then it will probably work for you. But if you are hard of hearing. You may have some difficulty hearing in some conditions. ... show more
