You can punch out the background in three different sections to reveal 3 "hidden hideouts" and 3 surprise randomized accessories (2 that Lila doll can wear). For example, one child may get a pink accessory, and another will get purple. The compact base features the castle's rose garden and outdoor high tea area with swans in the lake that spin! With Polly Stick technology, micro Lila doll and friends can stick anywhere on the compact. Place a sticker from the sticker sheet (included) on the compact and the dolls will stick to the sticker wherever placed. OMG they are doing the surprise thing now! (heck, even I love these surprise toys) Polly pocket is better than ever with the "Polly Stick" technology! Does it hurt my 1980s heart to see it look so different? Well yeah, but these lil Polly people can actually stand on those tiny ledges! I'm a fan of the tiny Polly Pockets and love mermaids too, so when I saw this collection, this was my first purchase. I absolutely adore it! It comes with a tiny Polly, and upon being opened up, we get a tiny playset with some cardboard cutouts on one side. Removing them gives us a few more tiny surprises, which end up being a mermaid tail, a crown, and a cute little friend (in this case, an octopus). I loved the surprises, and I think it's so cool that we can slip the tail onto Polly to turn her into a mermaid! I also like that we can use it on the other mini dolls that come in the other sets. My sole complaints are that I can't really get her to sit down with the tail on (and as such, human Polly has to sit on the tiny throne), and I also wish that the cutouts were easier to just slide out - the pictures printed on them are so incredibly beautiful, I wish they could double as a background for extra imaginative play! I'm a pretty artistic person so I'm sure I can find a way to "recycle" them as such, but it'd be nice if that didn't require extra work/creativity. Part of me also wishes that there was another character included (maybe another new character who could be a "permanent" mermaid?). The playset itself is also wonderful, featuring a shell throne, seahorse merry-go-round, swinging sunken ship, and more! The details are incredible and I'm impressed with how much work must've gone into this design. I'm so happy to have this set and it's a great addition to my collection of tiny toys - the set also works nicely with My Mini Mixie Q's and Shopkins Lil' Secrets characters, so if you love those lines, this is worth checking out! :) Enjoy your adventures at Mermaid Cove! ... show more

Nice sized polly pocket. Behind the peelable paper is a very cute boat swing and a few items to play with. If you love mermaids you'll love this. The doll seems pretty fragile though. I would say the shopkins mermaid pocket toy is better looking and less, kiddie? But I love looking at both.

I bought this for my four year old for a 6 hour plane trip along with another set. This one wasn’t as big and fancy as the other one but my daughter loved the horse and crown and uses it with her other sets. Definitely recommend for traveling.
