  • This story left me with a big smile
Format: Kindle
Dom and Jacob are former friends with benefits, who’s meeting again after 8 years apart! This book start with a bang! The hot way! and then something happens that’ll change everything for them. Dom and Jacob are both caretakers, and this is a story about finding back together, but also about finding your own happiness. There’s some a$$holes in this story, but together and with each others support they get through everything. I have a sweet spot for kissing scenes, and there’s many, beautiful, hot ones in this book. I really appreciated that there’s not only hot moments in this one, but tender ones too. The s$x scenes are hot! Erotic and with emotions! They can’t get enough of each other, and the chemistry is sizzling! And there’s mention of food and tea, I’m definitely here for that! Great side characters, and a lovely hea! Highly recommended it! ... show more

  • Yes, to a second chance at romance
Format: Kindle
I absolutely fell in love with Dom and Jacob the two main characters in Poles Apart. This story of a second chance at romance, is one that will make the reader feel multiple emotions. I found myself tearing up at certain parts of the book as Alex J. Adams’ writing makes her characters feel like they are real people. I also enjoy how even the supporting characters have depth and are such an integral part of the story. To me, Alex’s writing can make the reader feel like they are in the story along with all her great characters. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the rest of this series. ... show more

  • a sweet tease
Format: Kindle
I loved Dom the moment I met him in the first book, Dance With Me. His bright and fiery personality grabbed me. He pairs so well with Jacob, who is a sentimental softy. I enjoyed everything about this book, from their friends, their family, their banter, and especially their long time college romance. Spicy and steamy with plenty of swoon worthy moments. ... show more

  • Phenomenal second chance love story!
Format: Kindle
Dom and Jacob sure know how to heat up the pages. Talk about hot and steamy from the first page. Wow! These two were meant to be together. Even after years of being apart the connection between them is undeniable. I love how they both believe in family coming first. The love and support they give each other is amazing. I knew this was going to be another amazing book from Alex. She did not disappoint. I couldn't put this book down. This is a must read! ... show more

  • Poles Apart
Format: Kindle
I liked it better than the first book in the Nava Dance Studio series. Poles apart is a solid 3.5 book for me. I appreciated that Jacob's character fought to keep the relationship going throughout the whole book. I know this was supposed to be Dom's book, but I felt that Dom used every excuse and event to run away, give up, be a martyr, etc. The writing style (3rd person dual POV) is always a challenge because you never get into the character's heads. You as a reader are looking into this snowglobe like world where you're being TOLD a lot of things, but you don't experience the same things as the characters. This is evident when two life-changing/defining events for the characters occurs, and we get no dialogue, no descriptions, just a paragraph stating that x and y happened. We are told a lot of things throughout, but for me, I have to experience them with the characters to care that those events happened. The storyline is improved over the first book. You may need to suspend belief in a couple of extreme areas that were just over the top. We still have a couple of chapters that are repetitive as we are shown the exact same conversation from both characters POV's. I look forward to seeing how this new author evolves in her style, technique, and character development in the future. ... show more

  • Heart is overflowing right now.
Format: Kindle
I just finished this book, and Alex hit the mark again with this amazing book! Nothing worth having comes easy, and her amazing love stories prove that! Jacob and Dom's rough and rocky path builds something so real, that you can just feel it in your soul.

  • a second chance at love
Format: Kindle
Such beautiful beautiful story. A second chance at love for Dom and Jacob. Their love for each other just comes off the pages and you can’t help falling in love with them too. This book as all the emotions!! Sexy. Steamy. Stunning.

  • Ok read
Format: Kindle
Dom and Jacob were likable characters who clearly belonged together. There were times when their miscommunications felt contrived to create false tension but they were very quickly resolved. The storyline of Seb and his stalker was very confusing. There were almost no details given as to what was going on. Yet Dom seemed compelled to spend many platonic nights in his bed to comfort him. The alternating points of view were not my favorite because there was a lot of repetition in each chapter. Almost as though it was a trick to extend the word count. If this is a first effort I would definitely try the next book to see if the writing improved. Otherwise I’d probably pass. ... show more
