Description

Sports Series Book 6. This series is related by a sports theme, not by characters. As teenagers, Belle Elrod and Chandler Wolfe had been chosen to be part of Team USA figure skating’s elite training program. But when something happened, and Belle left the program, they were both left wondering what might have been. Now a professional skater trying to make the Olympic team for the first time, Chandler is looking for a new partner, while Belle hasn’t skated competitively in over a decade. The two are thrust back together unexpectedly when Team USA allows same-sex pairs to skate in the domestic competitions, and after convincing Belle to give her another chance, Chandler begins to believe she might have a chance to make the team. A bossy coach of a sister wants to get in the way, but Chandler is determined not to lose Belle again, and not just as a skating partner. Will the two of them crash out of the competition or will they show the country and each other what they’re capable of? • Love a Good Skating Romance & Redemption Story
I really loved this book. It reminded me of many Saturdays spent watching skating competitions, transfixed by the combination of athleticism and beauty. This story brought me all of that in addition to a redemption love story. The characters were great. The family dynamics were just dramatic enough to keep me engaged. The ice-skating references were descriptive without going overboard, and I couldn’t help but root for the two main characters at the center of it all. It’s a slow burn in the best possible way. When the lovers finally unite, it’s very satisfying. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • This story gets the Gold!
Side by Side is a pretty cool book that I highly recommend. The story focuses on the ice rink whether it be in a small town, the olympics, a fancy training facility, or at home. The ice skating aspect is a perfect balance for readers (like me) if you don’t know much about figure skating. It’s a low angst, second chance, rich girl/ poor girl story that was simply enjoyable to read. It was so easy to root for Belle and Chandler’s HEA. You get to know so much about Belle and Chandler you feel like you really know them. Even the supporting characters seem to go through challenges and have positive changes along the way by the time the book was over. It was easy to get so caught up while reading that I felt like I was there. It had parts that were funny, sad, and really all the feels. I also was pretty ecstatic that it had a satisfying ending… and by that I mean it wrapped up nicely. It didn’t leave me begging to wish for more. (And while I feel like saying that comes across as bad, I promise it’s not) For me this book was a perfect 10! ... show more

  • Well Written
This story was well written. The chemistry between the MCs was palpable and fun. Side characters definitely added to the story. The ice skating added good flare and unique. However, I had moments where I felt like the story dragged and had some issues maintaining interest. I don't usually have this issue with this author's books. I do recommend the book though. It was good, but I definitely don't forsee myself reading this again. ... show more

  • A beautiful 2nd chance love story!
First love and a second chance! Belle and Chandler met in their early teens and fell in love, but a bad circumstance pulled them apart and Belle left the national figure skating program. Now 12 years later, they meet again. Chandler needs help, she's doing pairs now and her partner was hurt. Same sex partners are now allowed in the nationals, and she asks Belle to be her partner. This is such a wonderful book! You see what goes into being a skater vying for perfection. This one is a favorite! Deserves more than 5 stars! ... show more

  • Side by Side
Another marvelous book by Nicole Pyland. I started devouring the book as as it became available. One of the things I look forward to when reading Pyland"s is the way she delves into the psych of her characters and creates the perfect partner, flaws, and all. Yet she makes them turn out as people you want to meet and be friends with. Beyond her pairings, the characters seem real, and you can't help but cheer them on from daily struggles to falling in love with the other MC. This second chance, enemies to lovers was oozing with chemistry and grew as the story went on. Another thing I appreciate from Pyland is the low angst aspect. She brings angst in the beginning of building the relationship. However, if there is further angst, it comes from outside the MCs, It pottrays the MCs working together. From Pyland"s City, Holiday, Royalty and Sport series, her books will not disappoint. Her stand-alone books as well delves into other areas that provide comforting entertainment. Although you do not need to read each book in a series, it will help with further character development when we get to see them as they find their perfect love match. I was thrilled when the Sport Series was going to continue. The down to earth athletes and the struggles they have to get through with the support of their partner is heartwarming. As they succeed in making their goals is thrilling. I look forward to the next installment of the Sport Series and any other contemporary romance Pyland wants to bring us. ... show more

I soooo loved this book. While I loved the little pieces that made me think of The Cutting Edge, this was so much better and not just because it was Sapphic either. I love the characters and their quirks that made them so uniquely them. I love when Chandler finally started standing up for herself and choosing the life she wanted. Such an amazing book! ... show more

  • Clash on the Ice
This was enjoyable read and quite arousing at times well written and a great addition to this series. Although shouldn't there be so sort of an overwhelming experience for this pair with their first together.
