The first time I tried this shampoo, I followed the instructions (use on dry hair). WRONG.... For me I saw absolutely no change in my hair and was very disappointed. So, I did a little research on the product and found that most people to actually wet their hair, then apply the shampoo. I tried that and yes, results were great. I've never colored my hair and I'm 72 with very little grey in the crown and around my temples, and this color was exactly what I hoped for. I did apply to my entire head for my balance and all over color. My hair looks healthier, feels much softer, it rinses very easy and doesn't seem to fad or cause a cloudy dull look over a few days. I also thought it was a little costly for the size bottle. But with the results I got and the compliments my husband gave me, no complaints the cost either. I'll be purchasing this product again so that I never run out.

I really wanted to love the Polar Haircare Light Brown Dye Shampoo, but after a few weeks of use, I’m feeling pretty "middle of the road" about it. It definitely does what it claims to do regarding gray coverage, but the experience comes with some significant trade-offs. The Good * Excellent Gray Coverage: For a "natural" and vegan formula, I was impressed. It took my stubborn grays and blended them into a nice, warm light brown without looking like a wig. * Gentle on the Scalp: Unlike traditional boxed dyes, this didn't itch or burn. My hair actually felt quite soft and hydrated immediately after rinsing. * Convenience: Being able to do this in the shower is a huge time-saver compared to the usual multi-step dyeing process. The Not-So-Good * The Mess Factor: Even though it’s a shampoo, it stains everything. If you don't scrub your shower tiles immediately, they’ll have a brown tint. Also, it stained my fingernails and cuticles—wear gloves, even if the bottle says you don't have to. * Color Tone: The "Light Brown" leans a bit more reddish/auburn than I expected. If you’re looking for a cool, ashy light brown, this might be too warm for you. * Scent: It has a bit of a medicinal/botanical smell that lingers for a day or two. It’s not terrible, but it's definitely noticeable. Final Verdict: It’s a solid option if you want to avoid harsh chemicals and need a quick fix for grays. However, the staining and the slight reddish tint make it a 3-star product for me. It’s effective, but you have to be very careful during application.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I like it! First try gave me about 90% coverage on hair and 80% on my gray beard, but for a first time I'm satisfied, especially because it looks very natural. I'll apply another shampoo in a week or so, to make it even fuller looking. But it was easy, NO mess and NO staining at all. So yes, I like it. Even applied to eyebrows. And left my hair super soft. UPDATE: I did go out in the light a day after applying and the saturation is less than I had initially thought. I'm going to apply another shampooing tomorrow, 2 days after the first application. The product is very gentle so I'm not worried about damaging my hair, but I want to see a darker/more saturated result. So I have now reduced the rating from 5 to 4. Let's see what the second application brings.

Misleading marketing. This only “tints” your hair. Does not give grey hair coverage like hair colors. I tried it twice and both the times, it was underwhelming. Going to return this soon.

This works well. I love it. It does not fry your hair. I bought the medium brown and am 50% silver virgin hair shoulder length. Your "medium brown" should be labeled "gorgeous shades of auburn". Did one treatment left it on 15 minutes and got a nice light auburn with strawberry blonde with lighter strawberry blonde highlights (but not medium brown). Two days later I did another treatment, left on 30 minutes and got a gorgeous deep Auburn (but not medium brown). I have included pics: 1 before and 1 after each treatment. Planning to try the 'dark brown' hoping to achieve a medium brown - want a nice medium chestnut brown.

I haven't been able to keep regular haircolor for more than two or three weeks. The grays take over and seem like they never quite absorbed the color. My hair was getting damaged from the frequency of dying. I gave Polar a try figuring it would be more gentle than peroxide. I'm going in three a and a half weeks, no gray. My hair is softer and the color is a pretty, medium brown. I love how you can just touch up with a few pumps instead of wasting a whole bottle of color. Maybe it didn't work for some people but it seems like an answer to a prayer for me. It did take more than two pumps but it looks like it will last for at least four root touch ups. I already reordered the three bottle deal from their website...great find!

I love the concept of Polar hair dye. However, it did not cover the grey as I was hoping. I ordered the medium brown, the color my hairdresser always used on me. It made the grey a cinnamon color and not a medium brown. I have done it twice, thinking the second time would give me the color I wanted , but it did not. I don’t like the color of my grey. I will have to go back to L’Oréal #5 medium brown to get my grey the color I want.

The instructions say used 2 to 3 pumps. I had to use 30 to 40 to cover my head and make a leather or get full coverage. I wasn’t happy with how dried out my hair fell afterwards and I looked in the mirror after combing out my hair and half of it is still gray. I am a retired hairdresser, so I know how to apply color and to make sure everything was properly covered. It is my opinion that this product just does not work. The camera is not picking up how gray it still is, but the real light hairs are actually all gray.
