  • Great memory at a good price
Color: Black Size: 16GB (2x8GB) Style: 3600 MHz
easy memory to install rgb looks great, the Aorus board i use has easy xmp settings to get the desired 3200mhz. I've used this kit in 3 builds now. Zero issues.

  • Slower is faster when it comes to Ryzen-based systems
Color: Black Size: 16GB (2x8GB) Style: 4400 MHz
First of all, for reference, I'm using this memory with an X570 chipset and AMD Ryzen 5 5600 CPU. The full timings of this PNY XLR8 Gaming 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 4400MHz (PC4-35200) CL19 1.45V RGB Dual Channel memory kit are 19-26-26-46 at 4400MHz when using the XMP profile. The lowest stable timings I could achieve was 18-25-25-45 at 4400Mhz. What I wish I knew before I bought this kit is that AMD Ryzen-based systems have something called an "Infinity Fabric Clock" (usually called FLCK in the BIOS) and there's a pretty significant memory latency performance penalty when your memory speed is more than 2x the Infinity Fabric Clock speed. In the case of my X570 / Ryzen 5 5600, the default Infinity Fabric Clock speed is set at 1800MHz, which means that if the memory runs faster than 3600MHz then I incur the performance penalty, more or less negating the advantage of running faster memory speeds. To confirm that was the case with this particular memory kit, I used the AIDA64 benchmarking tool to compare the memory read/write throughput and latency when running the memory at 4400MHz 18-25-25-45 vs at 3600Mhz 16-19-19-36 (lowest stable timings I could achieve at 3600Mhz). Turns out that the read/write throughput at 3600Mhz 16-19-19-36 was virtually identical to 4400Mhz 18-25-25-45, while the latency was 15% lower at 3600Mhz. Long story short, if you have a Ryzen-based system, you can probably save a few bucks by just buying "slower" memory with tighter timings. ... show more

  • Worth it, Yeah. Runs at 3600 with no issues but there was a few challenges...
Color: Black Size: 16GB Style: 3200 MHz
Set-up MSI B550 with AMD 5600X. Was still using DDR4 2400 overclocked to 2800. So the move to 3200 should be awesome, not so much, it is okay. At DDR4 2800 old memory, Passmark score 3,144, memory latency 46. This ram can be overclocked, but it was tricky. First it did not recognize the memory and would not boot, had to clear CMOS. Once in DDR2666 is what this memory defaulted, so changed everything back in BIOS, change RAM to DDR4-3200, timings 16-18-18-18-38 (yes there is additional timing in MSI settings), Passmark 3457. Now to the overclocking, DDR4-3800 failed every time. So I decided on DDR4-3600, the initial timings failed, but the interesting part. When I went back into the BIOS went to the timing the motherboard had suggested timing (no it would not auto tune these to these timings). The final working and stable 20-19-19-19-43, Passmark result 3548, latency 43. However one other interesting thing occurred, my processor is running faster. I have the 5600X overclocked previous Passmark 23,838, moved 24,012, not significant 1% but interesting. Next steps is can I adjust the PBO curve even further at 15 (negative) currently on all cores, to see if this has any relationship the fabric clock improvement. As the fabric clock is at 1800 for now which is its max I think I will keep it at this speed. Being that DDR5 is around the corner, this is a good purchase until the next evolution. When purchased they were $140 32GB versus others running at $94 for 16GB from almost everyone else. But this has RGB and it is controlled by the motherboard. I do have increase in my SSD from 14k to 16k in Passmark, but that could be just by chance always get big swing on this rating, otherwise no other noticeable improvements. Now more storage for large video file editing, tons of other things I do I my PC, now back to the games... UPDATE, without getting into the sub timings, I have a stable and fastest timing for the RAM at DDR4 3600, 18-19-19-39 (or MSI 18-19-19-19-39. This improved the Passmark result slighting to 3603, a slight drop in latency to 42. No other system performance gains. Userbenchmark has the latency at 60 ns., with multi-core at 39.7 GB/s and single core at 34.5 GB/s. ... show more

good ram but... needs better RGB lighting overall if your looking for some basic ARGB that you can customize with software this is it. works as intended and the price was decent at the time i purchased.
