I’ve done about 20 crimps using this tool. On my boats stereo and bilge pumps using heat shrink marine butt joint crimps. All passed the pull test. Seems well made, clearly marked for different sizes. No problems at all, one squeeze does the job. It has an adjustment on it but I did not change it.

I've only done a few crimps, but wow. These things make crimping so much easier than using the ones on my wire strippers. It's also a feels like a more durable & stronger crimp. It's basically a flat block making the connection, so you get one crimp to cover a wider area, making a crimp that looks nice. I didn't have to do any adjustments on my pair. They did a great job on the default setting. However, it looks like adjustments could be troublesome since the wheel is too close to the handle. It allmost looks like you will need to cut a bit of the handle away to make it work. Speaking of the handle, it is a thick material, easy to grip, and mostly comfortable. The ratchet function works well. But if you get the handles too close together, you're not getting your finger on the release switch to open them back up. I was able to get a screw driver in there. If you can't do this, you have to continue squeezing the handle and finish the crimp, regardless of whether it's the crimp you want. Not sure if the release is how others are designed, but seems like the release should sit a bit further back. Overall, at $15 and the minimal amount of crimping I do, I'm satisfied with these. If I did a lot of crimping, I might look for a better pair. If you're a weekend warrior, you should be satisfied.

Why did I not buy this tool sooner? This is a great value tool that does exactly what its supposed to and does it very well. Simply crimp the connectors and use a heat gun to seal everything tightly. Very easy to use and provides a better and more secure crimp compared to using other tools.

This is a sturdy crimping tool that seems to well overall, but the 2 problems I have are: - it has a fairly wide starting grip span, so as a female with smaller (but normal) hands, it is bulky and hard to get started. I find myself concentrating more on getting a grip around the handles to start crimping than paying attention to the area I need to crimp, which creates problem #2 - when concentrating on starting the crimp (the tool is bulky enough to prevent a good view of the full crimp location on the connector), the wire can slip out of the connector, so it takes extra time and effort to making sure the wire and connector are ready to be crimped. Okay, that just takes a learning curve. The REAL problem is that once you start to crimp AT ALL, the grip locks and won't release. The instructions don't say there is a release lever, which is right beside the hinge point, making it nearly impossible (even with my smaller hands) to access and push to release the jaw. This gap gets smaller as you close the crimper, so I SUGGEST having a rod or scissor blade nearby to wedge into the gap to release the jaw, if needed. Why is this a bigger problem for me? Well, it was tough enough when I was working outside to fix house lights that had to be wired "in place" (installed solar light strips and wall lamps), but the kicker was when I was replacing a small solar cell at the roofline, so I was on a ladder. It was so hard to see above head level to make sure the wires/connectors were ready/in-place to be crimped that I needed both hands to hold everything. Then, I started crimping and wasn't well balanced, so I adjusted to fix that and my crimper closed 2 clicks (but the wire moved too), so I had to restart. One side was already crimped onto the wire, so I couldn't do it on the ground. I didn't have good leverage to release the jaw, so I had to spend an extra 5 minutes getting the jaw open to realign and restart the process. This was ALL because the tool is so bulky and the lock-release mechanism is small and hard to reach. I haven't tested the strength of the connections much, and the directions don't go into how to adjust that gap, but I hope it works if needed. In the end - it worked, but for me, it seems like there are similar options that might even have better options for the price. If I had it to do over, I would look harder at options that reduced my issues.
