  • Great Solution for my Macbook Pro Setup
The Plugable Dock (Thunderbolt 4) is exactly what I needed. I wanted to plug in dual monitors to my Macbook with only one USB-C cable. That being said, make sure your Mac supports dual monitors over Thunderbolt. This dock won't work with BASE M1, M2, M3 chips. But instead, you'll need a M1,M2,M3 Pro/Max processor. My laptop is the M1 Pro Macbook Pro (2021) and it works perfectly. Just one cable and then I connect my 2 displays over HDMI to the dock. It also charges my laptop too which is nice! It's only been a few days with this dock so I can't comment on everything just yet, but so far I am very impressed! Yes it is a little pricey, but the build quality and many port options should future proof this dock for many years so I plan to keep it for a long time. I will update my review if anything changes. Edit: I had to contact support because of an issue with the audio jack. Their support team was super helpful and I must let it be known the issue was my own fault. I was not pushing in my headphone jack all the way into the audio slot. Their support team was extremely responsive and helpful and for that they will always have my business in the future! ... show more

  • Working well
Executive summary: I am a happy customer and I think this is a good product. Update to review: After I left the below review, Plugable's support team reached out to me. We were in the process of doing some troubleshooting and my next task was to install and run a diagnostic tool. There is a sensitive data concern (work laptop) so I am hesitant to download the tool. The hub seemed to reset earlier this week (not sure if it was something the hub did or if Windows might have done an update that impacted it). Since then it has been working perfectly. Plugable's support team was good to work with. I have never been certain whether this was a problem with the hub or the laptop. But since it is working now and I am confident in their support team, I am changing this to five stars. Original review: I am using this hub to run two monitors (while also using laptop display, so total of three screens) and a USB camera. Initially I was impressed - setup was easy and it somehow guessed the position of my monitors (one portrait and one landscape) so well that the mouse moved flawlessly from screen to screen. Since then...not so much. Every day it's a gamble. It inconsistently assigns the ID, so most days I have to go into Display Settings, swap the positioning, redo the portrait/landscape settings, and adjust the layout. Today my USB camera won't work. I have downloaded current drivers for the monitors and removed all old monitor settings, but cannot get the hub to consistently assign the monitor IDs. Sometimes I can cycle the power on it a couple times until it guesses the monitor assignments correctly. Sometimes after a sleep/wake on the laptop, the hub will only recognize one monitor. Rebooting the laptop solves that one. While I realize this could be a problem on the laptop end, it is a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad and I've had no other trouble with it. Two stars, since once the daily irritation is passed, it does work well for the rest of the day. ... show more

  • Great quality! High bandwidth
Plug and play, easy setup. Works with my M1 Max (Thunderbolt 4) and my Dell XXXXX (Thunderbolt 4?????). I have a 4k 60hz display, a 1080p 144hz display, a keyboard, and a mouse all plugged in with a single USB C cable from the dock. It's way more convenient than plugging in all of those peripherals every time. On top of that, the power delivery keeps my laptop charged at all times. Been using every day for a couple months now, and it is worth the price. ... show more

  • Works most of the time but occasional temporary failures
It works well most of the time but occasionally has an issue where it seems to disconnect for several seconds. (Firmware crash and reboot?) During this period, external monitors lose signal (go black) and all windows get moved to laptop display. It comes back on its own, windows finds the monitors again and everything is back to normal. Disconnects are annoying but only occasional. ... show more

  • Broken after 3 months
Update: the HDMI ports have both stopped working after less than three months. I have confirmed this with a second laptop. This is now an expensive USB hub. This works perfectly in my setup, although I discovered after I bought this that my laptop doesn't support Thunderbolt so I can't run both of my external monitors through this dock. Not the dock's fault of course. The dock doesn't seem to get notably hot in use though I'm not stressing it particularly with just one monitor that's not even 4K. My biggest gripe is that the uplink port - to connect the dock to the laptop - is on the *front*. This is stupid design. The front ports should only be for things that need to be plugged/unplugged frequently, so as to minimize cable clutter. In Plugable's defense this is very common among smaller, more portable docking stations, but there's enough room on the back for the uplink, so I'm taking away a star for this. Speaking of portability, the dock itself is reasonably compact but the power brick is bulky and heavy. I wouldn't really consider this a good option for a mobile setup. ... show more

  • The Plugable Thunderbolt dock can handle ALOT.
I drive my entire Home Theater system from my Samsung Win11 laptop. It provides the freedom to have multiple windows open at one time, with for example TV (youtube.tv) open to a Celts game but muted, Apple Music playing atmos-level music thru the AVR in another window, and email and other apps open as well. The key to the setup is the Plugable Thumderbolt 4 dock, which means only 1 item even needs to be plugged into the laptop (the thunderbolt connector, which charges as well as data-distributes). The dock connects in the ethernet, HDMI 2.1 in via thunderbolt, HDMI 2.1 out to the AVR, USB-C to a 4 TB SSD (for media library), USB-A out for bluetooth mouse/keyboard, a DVD drive, and a 4K google cast box to xmit directly from my smartphone or tablet. Works very well. ... show more
