I need to break my Synology NAS's speed barrier of 1G. I bought this device due to its reputation as the Pluggable, I owned several of their USB pluggable drives, and it worked great for me. The device's packaging is minimal, but you have everything you need, including the USB-C to A converter, I especially like the fact that they fused both, so you will never misplace or lose them. Compatibility: I was not using this device in a Windows or Mac environment, and my NAS is a lowly DS218 with Realtec RTD1296 CPU. It is up to me to find a suitable driver for it. I did research the ttps://github.com/bb-qq and found the latest driver package for it, and the installation is easy if you follow the instructions. Performance: I would rate it much better than my 1G connection; I got a 100+MB/sec transfer rate out of the Plugable 2.5G adapter. Why four stars: it is made of hard plastic, although I don't think I will do a lot of plugs and unplug with it. Durability may be an issue; time will tell.

It works, once you install the drivers. Gets quite warm to the touch, but not dangerously so. With jumbo frames, i can reach 2.1 Gbps sustained. Not bad. Taking one star off due to the bright-as-the-sun-itself white blinking activity light that there seems to be no way to turn off. It is so bright that coating it with black nail polish only slightly diminished its brightness.

I was able to get my full internet connection of 1.2gb down using the usb-c connection. I downloaded the Realtek drivers for the 2.5ghz port then tested a couple of cat 7/8 cables until I found one that could achieve the speed I needed. I tried the usb connection but was only able to achieve around 500mbs. I believe this was due to the limitation of my usb port.

I bought this product so that my wife's laptop would have a 2.5Gb NIC to connect to my budget NAS build that had a cheap 2.5Gb PCIE card from NICGIGA. She is a content creator and needed a large, high-speed repository to store her content. NAS write speeds saturated the 2.5Gb speeds just fine. My wife's laptop (a Dell XPS-17) has multiple USB-C ports that worked great with this NIC adapter. It was a great value for the money and I would buy again if I needed to.

Tried on both DS920 & DS918. I would advise using the front USB port as it seems more stable. Works great but you have to be using the correct driver (Google). Just make sure none of the 1GB ports are connected so your traffic doesn't redirect to that LAN port by default.

Using the 2.5 Gbe adapter between my Lenovo Yogo C930 laptop and my QNAP NAS. Immediately after installation I was getting near 2.5G read speeds from the NAS and only 1G write speeds to the NAS. Went into the adapter's driver Advanced settings to make sure Jumbo Frames were on at 9K setting, but that was not available. My next troubleshooting steps were to check my hardware connections (wiring between router, switches, and NAS). Made a few changes and both R/W speeds drop to 1G. After that I went back to my original hardware setup, but R/W speeds were stuck at 1G. So I decided to update the 2016 driver that was pre-installed on the 2.5 Gbe adapter, but Windows stated the "Best driver was installed". So I went to the Pluggable's website and found the recommended 2021 driver. Downloaded that driver which allowed me access to change the Jumbo Frames setting from "Disabled" to "9014 Bytes" and that worked. I now get 2.3G write speeds and 2.5G read speeds between my Yoga C930 laptop and my NAS! I would have scored this a 5 star rating, but it was not plug and play. Users that are not a little tech savvy could have issues out of the box and just return the adapter. My setup is as follows: - QNAP TS-253 NAS which has (2) 2.5Gbe ports - QNAP QM2-2P10G1TA PCIe Expansion Card with 2 x PCIe 2280 M.2 SSD Slots - (2) Samsung 870 EVO 500 GB NVME SSD drives installed in the QM2 Expansion card (RAID 1, Used for caching) - (1) QNAP 6-Port 10GbE & 2.5GbE (QSW-2104-2S-US) Unmanaged Network Switch - Asus AX89X Router with (1) SFP+ 10G port, (1) 10G Ethernet port Please note my setup if for future expansion to 10G networking, but for now I'm only looking for use the 2.5G performance.
