Awsome system that blows away Nintendo Handhelds
This system kicks the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS in the face. It has a beutiful screen (16:9) with no dead pixil's but if you don't protect it with screen protectors it can get scratched and you don't want that with this kind of a screen. This system can play games, movies, music and pictures all through a Memory Stick Duo (The PSP will also accept Memory Stick Pro Duo)or UMD. UMD is the PSP's disk system that can hold up to 1.8GB's. Stands for Universal Media Disk. The PSP cannot play DVD's or CD's. It is also WI-FI Compatible so you can share files or play agenst others in 2 modes; Ad Hoc(Playing agenst others in the same room or household without an internet connection. It's the Wireless version of LAN mode) or Infrastructure(Playing agenst others around the country using a wireless router or "Hot Spot"). You can play up to 8 people in Ad Hoc mode. The battery is a removable battery pack that lasts for hours (lasts longer if you're not using a UMD). The PSP also has a port for an AC adapter or Car Plug. The value pack comes with a great carrying case(The carrying case is just a sleeve of leather and won't protect it if you drop it. You'll want to find a better one to carry it in)strap, starter disk(contains Music, movie previews and game previews), and a remote with earbuds. The Remote is great but the earbuds get uncomfortible after a while and are a pain. You can use any of your favorite headphones or earbuds with the remote. It has a USB port at the top so you can upload files to the Memory Stick Duo or Pro Duo in the PSP without a reader(PSP doesn't come with a USB Cable so you'll need to get a USB A/Mini B Cable) . The USB also allows you to connect with the PS2 for extras with some games. There is an IR port at the top as well for remote access (There isn't a remote available yet). And Finally the controls. It feels very similar to when your holding the PS2's Controller and it feels comfortible in your hands. This is a great system and If your a handheld gaming fan then you'll definately want to get this.

Worth Wayyy More Than $249 Retail...
I'm not a big gamer. Have a standard PS2 at home that gets little use. But when I found out this was the portable version of my home PS2 PLUS Mp3 player AND Mini Theatre I was sold. For $249, you get a razor sharp quality LCD TV, MP3 player via Memory Stick Duo (included), and sick gaming system. It almost seems too cheap to be true. Been using for the last 3 hours and must say this is a groundbreaking system. The cool factor is very high here. Can't wait to take it on the train Monday morning for people to awe at! What it needs: Someone needs to come up with a way to rip standard DVD's and even backup standard PS2 games to transfer them to blank UMD disks which this uses. It's probably already possible, the blank UMD media just needs to become available. It is a realistic needed option as I assume Sony doesn't expect everyone to replicate their DVD and PS2 collections in this new format. We went through that with VHS, I WONT do it again. Otherwise, fantastic unit. PSP only titles seem very rich at this point. The video quality is stunning!!! Gil

casual gamer recommends....
Is it just me, or does this product seem to garner a lot of negative reviews from people who probably don't own one? Anyway, this machine is a nice piece of kit with a few drawbacks, most of the points have been covered before. It's the first gaming console I've bought since the gameboy I had as a kid (does that date me?) which I purchased because I travel a lot, work away from home a lot, and wanted to be able to watch films and play games casually on the long flights. I don't know much about the DS, but chose the PSP based on the games to come (Sony seems to have a wider range of games in the other platforms) particularly Worms, GTA and Sims 2- that is, games that casual gamers get a kick out of without having to master them. The screen is amazing, the sound pretty good, and the two games (Lunimes and Twisted Metal) and highly enjoyable. If I were to state reservations about the PSP, it would be the continued insistence of manufacturers to put regional locking on the films (I travel a lot between the UK and US) the batterly life (which is promised to improve, and at least you can swap batteries, hem hem iPod) and the lack of titles around at the moment (again, this will proabably improve). Overall, a nice, amazing looking thing with some scope for improvement.

Buyer beware!
If you're not familiar with technology and how it works, don't purchase used products from this guy. I purchased an older PlayStation portable for my granddaughter. The device stayed in a box for over a month because I was traveling and not home when it arrived. When I was finally able to open it and get it ready for my granddaughter, I discovered I couldn't download any of the game purchases I made, because the manufacturer no longer supported the old device. When I asked for a refund, the seller said he couldn't because the purchase was more than 30 days prior. I noe have a device that will never be used. And game purchases that can never be downloaded. I learned my lesson TGF hard way. Always purchase the new technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Revolutionary at the time.
This thing is amazing. I bought it almost 5 years ago and it still flawless. First of all this game has the original and best version of lumines ever. Lumines is the most amazing puzzle game and if you goto [...] now and look it up you will see that it was one of the most highly rated games of all time. 2nd someone just gave me there old 1gb memory card and I plugged it in a month ago and was able to connect to the psp store and download Castlevaniea Symphony of the Night. Are you kidding me another top rated game stored on removable media. I mean this thing was so far ahead of its time its not even funny. The load times are slower than the newer models but it amazes me that everything was so well made and still works flawlessly half a decade later. UMD forever!!!

The best choice on where to buy a used PSP!
Got exactly what I ordered, if not more than my expectations! The seller was very helpful to answer any questions and concerns I had. Even more so giving me suggestions and different choices of what color I wanted for my PSP; giving helpful information on the condition of the different colors of the PSPs to help make my decision on which one I wanted more certain. Would buy it again most definitely!

Your PRO's CON's to this Device
CONCLUSION - Excellent All Around for games - Fair attempt at everything else I gave it 3 stars mainly for having great potential to be a all in one device, Really have to knock Sony for not allowing open source to develop towards it and not thinking ahead like Apple did with I-Tunes. PRO Screen - Best in handhelds for Gaming and Movies, Clear and wide and very little scratches. Movies - Features are great for Mem Stick movies and UMD RSS Channel - Works great on WIFI, WIFI - Great that something that small has it, now where are the apps. Battery Life - Excellent Life better than most portable electronics. Especially when you consider the screen. I do wish that the screen was accessible with out the screen lighting up. IR - New features will become available to the IR port. Value Pack- comes with a Charger and a Case. Others come with nothing PRICE - Great Value for what you get, better than others. CONS Storage (or lack of)- Mem Stick is useless these days for storing any amount of movies and songs - This is my biggest gripe with this device. I have researched the boards and nothing in the future about a 40, 60 or 80GB hard drive is available. Mem sticks are limited and no way to burn a CD and use it. VIDEO - no simple video output GAMES - not enough coming out and WAY WAY too expensive. This is not a console game and the games should not be priced like a console game. Also UMD Games have LAG see memory. I understand it is hard to port a game to PSP as things have to change since the PSP has fewer features (buttons and sticks) as a dual shock. Movies - WAY WAY too expensive as they cannot be played on a big screen, Really give me a break this will kill the technology. Stick with DVD's. No rentals yet either. MEMORY - 32 mb is not enough internal memory to cache games from UMD - takes a long time to launch a game and has to go to disk too often sometimes during game play. Also this should be an optional upgrade if I want a gb of ram why not sell it Sony? Screen - Reflections are a problem Software - No FREE packaged software to convert songs or movies, but what good would it do there is no where to put them. The process to put music and Movies on the stick cannot stand the onslaught brought on my apples stupid easy interface and software. Also very little development towards 3rd party software - PDA's have great potential these days and I personally think this device should have more PDA functionality. UMD - Not blue wave and cannot burn a UMD. Size - Hard to hang around your neck and is bulky for portable use Accessories - compared to IPOD Very little out there. VOICE - No- Microphone - missing a great features coming out in VOIP. Could easily partner with a yahoo messenger or google.
