VIO-FLEX insole made as a flexible, lightweight compound optimized for moisture control and added breathability. Helps alleviate heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis. I bought these Vionic Walk Strider sneakers for my 18‑year‑old niece after months of watching her struggle with foot, ankle, and knee pain. We eventually took her to a comfort‑shoe specialty store where they measured and tested her feet and confirmed what I suspected: she has very wide, very flat feet and had been wearing the wrong shoe size in the wrong kinds of shoes for years. They sold us some supportive insoles that gave her old sneakers a modest improvement, but it was clear she needed shoes that were actually built for her feet instead of trying to force‑fix fashion sneakers. I started researching “best shoes for flat, wide feet” and kept running into a list of either very “granny” styles (in her words) or options that were $500 and up, which is just not realistic for most people, especially an 18‑year‑old. When I stumbled across these in black, they looked promising, but what really sold her was the funky retro rainbow colorway. The second she saw that option, she asked me to order them immediately because they looked like something she would genuinely want to wear, not just “doctor‑approved” shoes she’d tolerate. No shoe was going to magically erase years of misalignment and pain overnight, and we were realistic about that. But these have made a truly remarkable difference in a relatively short time. The built‑in support under the arch and through the heel means she no longer feels like she’s walking directly on the floor, and the wide, stable base actually matches the width of her feet instead of squeezing them. She noticed that her feet weren’t throbbing after a full day of classes, and even her ankle and knee pain has started to ease because she’s no longer collapsing inward with every step. From a practical standpoint, the cushioning is substantial without feeling squishy, the heel feels secure, and there’s enough room in the toe box that her toes can spread instead of being cramped. She can stand and walk longer, and she doesn’t dread walking across campus the way she did before. From a style standpoint, she absolutely loves the retro rainbow design and says they’re the first “support shoes” she’s ever been excited to show her friends. That combination—real, noticeable comfort plus a fun, youthful look—makes these an absolute win. If you have very flat, wide feet (or a teenager who does) and are tired of choosing between painful “cute” shoes and comfortable styles they hate, these are absolutely worth trying. I have Vionic sandals and they are very supportive for my flat feet. I had high hopes for these shoes, they were stylish and had a firm strong sole while still being moderately lightweight. They were a great price at the time of purchase and I loved that they were no bulky. Ultimately, they did not work for me, the shoes hurt my feet terribly for days at a time and after wearing them multiple times, I could no longer continue to wear them.
