  • Still rocking strong over the years without any issues!
PS4! Great system. Love it. I have a had this for a few years now, and I am only now getting around to reviewing the system. It was a fantastic bundle deal at the time, and included a $50 value when you factor in the game that it comes with. The game isn't actually a physical copy. It is a downloaded title that plays without a disk. Unfortunately, with PS4, online play is no longer free and you have to subscribe to PS Plus to gain access now. This is disappointing, but I understand that maintaining servers is not free and they could not continue the free model. That being said, the graphics are pretty good and mostly look like what you would expect a next-gen system's graphics to look like. A lot of detail and very sharp rendering. It plays blue ray disks of course and comes with quite a spacious hard drive. They bundle in a wired headset, but really it can be sued with any Bluetooth headset device. The controller has a nice trackpad built in, which though I rarely use, is handy for selecting letters if you don't have a keyboard. I won't make the review too lengthy, because now that PS4 is old, most know what they are getting at this point, but I will say it has held up well over the years and I haven't had a single issue with it. ... show more

  • Really good for what it is.
Preorder came in on release date, as it was supposed to. I really like it for what it is. It's a great console, with really good, and good looking games. This came with the new 1215A console model. I'm not a fanboy, but The main reason I have stuck with Sony, is the controller layout. I like the new controller ok, but not as much as the DS3, especially because none of the uses for it I have seen in games so far, are anything that couldn't have just been done with the old controller. I don't really care for the fact that the Nathan Drake collection is digital only. Discs make it more convenient, especially with the size of games these days compared to the tiny hard drive in the console. I like the headphone jack in the controller, and I like the fact that it comes with a heaphone/mic combo that comes in handy cussing out the campers in COD. The only real disappointing thing about the PS4 in general, is the complete lack of access to the back catalog of PSN purchases. I have 50 pages worth the purchases, and only one of those is stuff that can actually be used on the PS4. Unfortunately I sold my PS3, so I no longer have access to all my other purchases. SO just like everything, there are pluses, and minuses, but I'm still happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Well worth the money. Love all the new details and thought put in to this system.
Was quite excited to get the ps4. I couldn't wait to get out of box. Love the display that comes up on home screen. One problem i had was figuring out how to hook up second controller to play game. Soon realized you have to have 2 accounts one primary and guest. Click opposite account on other controller. The size is great slimmer then the ps3. Love the front load of CD disk goes right in. On the PS3 was hard to shut and wouldn't latch all the time would have to re-close several times. The graphics are very impressive noticed that right off the bat. There is big difference in the picture quality in games. I could barley see on uncharted games was so dark during playing on ps3. I couldn't recognize what part of game my husband was playing on the 4 because quality was so much better i could see the details so good. Only other complaint i have is on the controller to plug in and charge is kinda hard to get in and can see this being a problem with breaking if not really careful . Controllers do fit nicely in hands and makes for easy game play. Did take a bit to figure out all the buttons. ... show more

  • Eh, it's Playstation. You're Going to Get It or Not
To be honest we bought it more for the multimedia capabilities (to replace a Chromecast) than for the ga...oh, who am I kidding? I got it for my wife for her birthday because she loves the uncharted series. To wit: Good - it's Playstation. So you know it's good. Sorry, Sega, you had your chance - now into the pit with you. Bad - it's Sony. Really, guys, you couldn't do backwards compatibility? And charging full price in the PS4 stores when I can get it cheaper physical? AND after nearly three years an anemic amount of games? Chances are, if you're on the page, your mind's already made up. ... show more

  • I love this system
Holy Moley, I love this system! This review comes in two parts. Part 1: system presentation, power, and feel The PS4 has an unprecedented speed when it comes to the transition between games, apps, and video services. Comparative to the PS3, this system is lightning fast out of the box and it feels precisely like a gaming box, rather than a clunky computer. The UI is clean and beautiful to look at and the future updates will only improve it. The power saving settings (like rest mode) are perfect for all walks of life; its a flexible system which caters to your life and pattern very well. The power in this system is also wonderful! its fast, smooth, never skips frame rates, and charges on even under several late-night gaming binges. Also has deep customization from themes to skins! Part two: Shortcomings Controller battery life leaves something to be desired; typically lasts 5-6 hours between a charge, yet that should be no problem for actual productive members of society. Online multiplayer play requires pay. ... show more

As of now I think this is the best deal on the market for a new PS4 at retail price. You get a download voucher for Uncharted 1, 2 & 3 in this bundle (not physical discs). Be aware that the game's download file size is around 44GB. Sony also includes a 20% off voucher for the PSN store. A DualShock 4 controller, a high speed HDMI cable, micro usb cable, & headset is included. The model I received in this bundle was CUH-1215A, which has hard power & eject buttons. The entire outer shell is matte black. No piano black & touch buttons like the launch console has. It also runs more quiet & is a little smaller than my PS3 Slim 160GB from 2009. The hard drive used is a Hitachi 2.5in SATA 500GB & can easily be upgraded. A SSD drive can be used, but it is not recommended. I have played all 3 Uncharted games on the PS3 before. The main differences are a higher frame rate, no sixaxis, & a few bug fixes. Gameplay is exactly the same as before. ... show more
