I replaced the impeller on my Stihl SH 86 shredder vac after the previous off-brand one fell apart from heavy use. I vacuum up tons of leaves every fall here in the northeast, and the old one's fins had cracked off completely, which killed the suction and caused a lot of extra vibration. The side-by-side pictures show how bad it got, and even on the edge view, you can see this new replacement is noticeably thicker and feels much sturdier overall. It seems like a clear step up in quality. Installation was straightforward: just remove six T-25 screws to get the cover off, then one reverse-thread nut to pull the old impeller. Make sure not to lose the washers since the new one doesn't come with replacements. Everything went back together without any trouble, and it runs smoother now with better performance. I will update if anything changes over time, but so far this looks like a reliable fix for anyone dealing with a worn-out impeller on these models. ... show more
