The gear ratio for a reel this big is insane, it reels in very smooth and super fast and also has a very strong drag as well so I will definitely be buying a couple more of these reels in the future

Unfortunately we haven't been able to use this reel yet, due to our fishing trip getting cancelled because of 14 foot seas. This reel seems to be well made for the price, and is the largest level wind reel I have ever seen. It's between a 4/0 and a 6/0 size so be aware of that. I bought this for my 12 year old grandson to use since he was having difficulty using a conventional reel getting the line back on the reel correctly. I ended up buying him a shoulder harness and a belt. That made it easier for him to handle. ... show more

    • The worst piscifun reel I've owned.
Ordered this for a trip off of edisto beach. Over an hour from shore and this piece of crap broke on literally it's first run out. Level wind function broke while running out the bait. Only winds to one location now, had to hand retrieve my lure. Bought a penn at the docks to replace it, penn works like they always do. Extremely disappointed. I've got 3 other piscifun reels and have been very pleased with them. They missed the mark on this one though. Or maybe I just got a dud? Who knows? ... show more

I’m a kayak and small fishing boat trout fisherman and I wanted to run a second lead core line. I’ve bought Piscifun products in the past several times and have always liked them so when I needed a reel big enough to hold 300’ of lead core and another 100’ of monofilament line. I was happy to find the Salís 5000. I’ve gone fishing with it and it is comprable to my other lead core setup which is a Penn level wind 30 but, my Salís was about $60 cheaper. I also feel changing the drag settings are better on the Salís. I don’t regret buying either reel but if I were to buy a third I would buy the Salís because it’s cheaper and has rings to attach to. The only conn compared to the Penn reel is it’s a little heavier but not enough to bother me. You may notice my Penn is right handed and my Piscifun is left. That’s not an accident when I paddle kayak fish it’s so both controls and handles face me. One plus to Salís is the retrieval rate is faster than the Penn and being right handed that helps a lot. ... show more
