  • Excellent workhorse reels
Size: 6000
Very very solid reel for the price. Have both the 3000 series on a medium weight do all bass spinning rod, and a pair of the 6000 series on a couple surf rods. Very solid reels, great drag, and great construction. The 3000 is on par with the Daiwa Fuego on my medium light spinning rod.

  • Very nice, very smooth, solid.... but not too heavy
Size: 6000
I just received this reel today, very nice looks, very smooth operation. Taking it the Pacific ocean next month. I will spool it up with 50 pound braid, using it to catch Calico Bass, Sand bass, Rockfish. I'm sure it will do well. This reel is solid, but not too heavy. Piscifun puts out some very good products, I have purchased several rods and reels, I have not been disappoint with none of them. ... show more

  • Smooth like Butter!!
Size: 6000
Not going to lie, I'm the guy who usually equates the price with how good an item is. Meaning, if it's not super expensive, it's crap! I basically bought this because it was on sale and I thought it would be better than the other cheap reel I have which was the penn pursuit 4 seeing that this claimed to be saltwater rated. I didnt have high hopes for this as I thought of piscifun as a cheap brand. Well, let me tell you this, I brought in a 7lb bonefish yesterday and my God it felt so silky smooth and composed. The smoothness aspect of this reel is no lie. I can't speak to the longevity as yet as I only had this in my hands for a week but as of right now, I am so happy. I will update if anything goes wrong in a year if God wills me to live another. Really and truly, to me, if anything goes after a year of surf fishing I will still consider it as a great investment. I spoiled this baby with 30 lb beyond braid with a 15 foot shock leader and even on the ugly stik inshore carbon medium heavy rod, it casts like a dream. Yeah I like this reel so far. I may just replace my penn battles with this. Time will tell. I will say though, I already placed two 5000 in my cart lol. Piscifun, Holla at your boy with some reels, I'll promote them. Please note, I have no ties whatsoever to Piscifun or any other brand for the matter. I'm just genuinely pleased with item. If I had one gripe, I would say the paint job isn't the best but hek, if it catches fish and lasts, who cares. ... show more

  • Initially Very Impressed, Then I Found a Quality Control Issue...
Size: 5000
The media could not be loaded. Update: After my initial review of the Piscifun aluminum-bodied reel, I reached out to the company about the stripped screw issue and my concerns regarding the housing design. To my surprise, Piscifun's customer service was excellent—they immediately sent me a brand-new replacement reel free of charge. I was impressed with their quick response and willingness to make things right. The replacement reel came in just as well-packaged as the first, and this time, I didn’t encounter the same creaking sound or loose housing. The drag system remained smooth, and overall, the reel felt much more solid during use. However, I did notice that the gear casing screws were slightly stripped, though it didn’t affect performance as much. Aside from that minor issue, the replacement reel is performing well, and I’m happy with how Piscifun handled the situation. Old: I was excited when I saw Piscifun dropped another full aluminum bodied reel. I wanted the Captain before it was discontinued. Ordered this reel the day I saw it. I was initially very impressed with this reel. Unboxing (video posted[no commentary]) the reel was extremely well packed. No way it would get damaged in shipping. After assembly, the reel cranked smoothly, and the drag was smooth as well. Great first impressions. However, when I get a new reel, I tend to fidget with it. I tighten the drag a quarter turn, turn the spool manually a half turn slowly and smoothly. Feel the drag. Tighten or loosen the drag, and repeat. I constantly spin the handle and let the reel free-spin. While doing this, I started to hear a clicking sound in the housing (before you say anything, I know the drag clicks when it goes out). Kept on playing with it, kept getting louder. I could feel the reel creak and the side plate move. Long story short, it was the back screw on the housing not being fully tightened. No big deal. Till I noticed the screw was already stripped (pictured). Went ahead and tightened it with a flat head. Bit nit-picky, but I don't think a new reel should come with loose/stripped screws. I also am not a fan of the housing design. The entire housing splits, even portion under the rotor, to access the gears. Most reels have a side plate that can be fully removed to access the gears to maintain/grease without removing the rotor. Not this reel. This reel requires full removal of the rotor in order to access the gears. Basically, no quick disassembles and quick maintenance. Only full maintenance with this design. Some other reels follow the same design, such as an older Daiwa Legalis I own. Just not a big fan. I am going to contact Piscifun and see if they will send me a replacement screw. If so, I will probably keep it. If not, I will probably look at other brands. ... show more

It’s only had a 1hr trip and pulled in 3 whiting of medium size. A bull red drum , pompano or Spanish Mack will be a good test for it.Its nice to have a smooth, trustworthy reel to challenge surf fish!
