Just delivered today so the star rating might be premature, however just out of the box the initial quality impression is high. The reel is smooth as silk, well balanced and quite sturdy. The biggest detractor for me was on the bottom of the box. I was looking for another 6000 size spinning reel but didn’t want to break the bank. I was quite enthusiastic about buying a reel from what I thought was a US company then I turned over the box and to my great dismay the words MADE IN CHINA appeared. Just a heads up y’all. After using the reel we’ll see how many stars will be around. Stay tuned. Well I’ve been using the reel for a month now and I must say that the reel has exceeded my expectations and dare I say better than my Shimano Saragosa & a heck of a lot cheaper . If there was room for another star I’d give it one

Thease are awesome reels, great for surf or boat. Water proof, stainless shaft and gears, smooth and mor drag than .ost reels the same size. I have attached least a half dozen different sizes. Even the cheaper model is great quality but Thease are the best reel for the money hands down

The media could not be loaded. Update: After my initial review of the Piscifun aluminum-bodied reel, I reached out to the company about the stripped screw issue and my concerns regarding the housing design. To my surprise, Piscifun's customer service was excellent—they immediately sent me a brand-new replacement reel free of charge. I was impressed with their quick response and willingness to make things right. The replacement reel came in just as well-packaged as the first, and this time, I didn’t encounter the same creaking sound or loose housing. The drag system remained smooth, and overall, the reel felt much more solid during use. However, I did notice that the gear casing screws were slightly stripped, though it didn’t affect performance as much. Aside from that minor issue, the replacement reel is performing well, and I’m happy with how Piscifun handled the situation. Old: I was excited when I saw Piscifun dropped another full aluminum bodied reel. I wanted the Captain before it was discontinued. Ordered this reel the day I saw it. I was initially very impressed with this reel. Unboxing (video posted[no commentary]) the reel was extremely well packed. No way it would get damaged in shipping. After assembly, the reel cranked smoothly, and the drag was smooth as well. Great first impressions. However, when I get a new reel, I tend to fidget with it. I tighten the drag a quarter turn, turn the spool manually a half turn slowly and smoothly. Feel the drag. Tighten or loosen the drag, and repeat. I constantly spin the handle and let the reel free-spin. While doing this, I started to hear a clicking sound in the housing (before you say anything, I know the drag clicks when it goes out). Kept on playing with it, kept getting louder. I could feel the reel creak and the side plate move. Long story short, it was the back screw on the housing not being fully tightened. No big deal. Till I noticed the screw was already stripped (pictured). Went ahead and tightened it with a flat head. Bit nit-picky, but I don't think a new reel should come with loose/stripped screws. I also am not a fan of the housing design. The entire housing splits, even portion under the rotor, to access the gears. Most reels have a side plate that can be fully removed to access the gears to maintain/grease without removing the rotor. Not this reel. This reel requires full removal of the rotor in order to access the gears. Basically, no quick disassembles and quick maintenance. Only full maintenance with this design. Some other reels follow the same design, such as an older Daiwa Legalis I own. Just not a big fan. I am going to contact Piscifun and see if they will send me a replacement screw. If so, I will probably keep it. If not, I will probably look at other brands.

As a self proclaimed "reel geek" I was hesitant to purchase one of these reels even after the outstanding reviews and specs. I decided to give it a shot and WOW am I impressed!!! Really solid feeling,smooth, great drag and the line lay is awesome!! I have the 3000 size and have caught many 35+ inch snook!! DEFINITELY recommend if you don't mind a reel on the heavier side compared to Daiwa and Shimano. I have it spooled with 15lb j-braid grand and put it on a tsunami Forged inshore rod for a perfect match!!!
