The only review you need to read. This is for freshwater review. NOT FOR SALTWATER!!! These are amazing reels for the price. For anyone who is starting out or is avid fishermen. I been using these 4 to 5 times a week on the biggest lake in PNW. I fish Lake Washington. With 30 different types of fish. And different sizes and weight. With great success. I currently own 3 of these Piscifun Flame reels. On 3 different setups, from pan fish to large mouth and cat fish. My setups are all less then $60 including the line I put on the reel. I I get the smooth cast everytime. From my 5" to 7" pole. Using all size lures and just to a split shot and bober set up for some panfish. You wont be disappointed in this reel. This isn't your cheap plastic walmart reel or reel and combo, you get at walmart. This reel does compete with the Penn or even other high end reels. But for a more affordable price tag. I have mine for a year now. And still cast smooth like day one. I don't keep up with the oiling and other maintenance, becuase I wanted to see how long it will last with neglect, also less $30 I can buy a new one if needed to be. So far over a year of use. And still going strong. I will recommend this to any fresh water fisherman or fisherman. It's a great reel for the beginner or the advance. Would I use this for a bass competition, probably. Lol. So here my setup for pan fish and basic bass fishing. If you are new to fishing or just wanting a nice cheap freshwater setup. Panfish - Bluegill,sunfish, pumpkin seeds, perch, white or black crappie, etc. I use a shakespeare micro series rod. This is my 5" rod. Ultra light. Great to feel even the smallest bites. Around $20 on amazon. Bigger fish - Trout, Bass, Walleye, etc. Berkley Cherry Wood HD This is a full wood rod. Coming in around 6'6 and also a 7" rod. Medium/heavy. Now before you say why would you want a Medium/heavy for trout or even walleye. This has a tip of a light rod (meaning you can fill small bites), but the back bone of a heavy rod. I pulled 13lbs fish in on 8lbs test thanks to this rod. This is like the name says. Made of cherry wood, so the tip is easily breakable. But wont break from weight of bigger fish. It's great rod. I been using them for 15+ years now. And own multiple sizes. Around $20 on amazon. I use berkely invisible line on all my reels. Just personal choice. ... show more

Just got this reel. The outer package that it came in was partially open and it was left outside in the rain. The box the reel came in was wet and dented. This is not like Amazon. Fortunately, the box is sturdy and the reel was enclosed in plastic not damaged. My first impression was "this is a really nice looking reel". The body is all flat black, But the spool is red and black with a very attractive design giving the reel a great look. The reel is very smooth to wind, very. The drag is also very smooth, which is unusual for a reel in this price range. Although it is listed as an ultra light, the 2000 is a perfect size for my application. I fish mostly for crappie , not bass. I do have several other reels that are much smaller that are called ultra light. I am glad I did not get the 3000 but a bass fisherman may like it. The reel is a great bargain but it does have some drawbacks. The oversized bail knocks against my knuckles when I reel it. Also, it is virtually impossible to trip the bail with the handle. Hopefully, this will loosen up over time. All my life I have been using the handle of my reels to trip the bail. I recently learned that it is best to trip the bail manually. This reel will help me learn to do it that way. Finally, the design on the outside of the spool looks great but is likely to snag line when fishing. A little black tape wrapped around it will correct any problems if they arise. As for the PisciFun name. This is definitely a Chinese product, but it is a good one. It compares favorably with reels I have that cost 3 times this one. I don't think you can go wrong with it. It's not just a beginner's reel! Turns out that Pisci is derived from the Latin "Pices" which means FISH. So the translation from Chinese may mean "fishing fun". Just a guess and everyone else probably figured that out. ... show more

In my opinion in three years I have had not one problem an I can rate it right up there with the top rated brand of reels. Picked up two of these reels, super impressive! This reel is incredibly smooth, the drag is not rough at all, and the reel can cast a country mile! When you put line on the spool it lines up perfectly, and being it is a braid ready spool is also Excellent. I like the fact that I don’t have to have two different lines in the boat for one being the backer. And on top of it the 5.2:1 Gear ratio it is a perfect all around ratio. I also love the fact that the reel has a full graphite body making it very light and a reel you can cast all day. I have a 2000 and a 3000 series, on the 3000 series I’m using it for a drop shot and it works phenomenal! For the 2000 series I’m skipping docks with it using a senko on a flick it jig, and they work for Awesome for both techniques. But the reel is definitely not limited to only these techniques, I also like the fact that it has the back reeling capability For when you pull in the big pigs, you can back reel them if need be, I also really like the look of the reel with the Matte black finish and the metallic red, very sharp looking, Piscifun has really stepped up to bring us an amazing product at an extremely affordable price, and The best part is, it’s still a high-quality reel! As a Tournament angler I can only have stuff in my boat I can rely on, I will definitely have a few of these in my boat! Excellent price to performance with these. No issues with function. I've been putting them on ice rods this year. They work well in the cold though not much room for a gloved hand.
