Does a great job of clamping onto the rod without any risk of scratches or damage. I also like how it can accommodate both wide and narrow spools. The arms that hold the reel are rounded and provide enough resistance and control to prevent the spool from spinning freely - this is good so that the spool stops when you stop reeling. I purchased this Piscifun line spooler on Amazon for $19.99. It's a breeze to use and perfectly spools fishing line of any type to the reel. I used 15 lb. braided line to a baitcasting reel, 3-5 minutes. Quick setup, durable quality. Not chintzy. Attaches firmly to every size rod I've tried. The knob that adjusts the pincers to the supply spool tightens down to a desired, consistent tension. Easy to disassemble, two (2) pieces. Stows comfortably in fishing bag, tackle box, or glove compartment. This line spooler is a breakthrough product for me compared to the old school method of spooling a reel.     • Inconsistent rotation
Item arrived as described and fast! Had no trouble spooling convention reels, but did have trouble with saltwater surf spinners as the rotation was inconsistent. I've tried different speeds while spooling, but it seems to stop every now and then causing unwanted twist and uneven layering. I love the convenient of the rod setup but it's frustrating every time you need to stop and rewind, is this a defect or am I using this product wrong, any suggestions? ... show more

    • Not as easy as it looks but you can't have it back, it's mine!
First off, if you have a spinning rod(s) you need one. I have been fishing with spinning rods for nearly 60 years. I have always dreaded putting line on a reel. If you get the line on wrong it will un-spool. Y'all have done it too, so, you know what I mean. The line spooler fixes that. Line goes on perfect. My problem with the line winder is that the rod mounting bracket is just a little too short for light and ultra-light reels. The rod interferes with the arms that hold the line spool (in this case 1500 yds 10# Trilene). I put a spacer under the rod mounting bracket, about 1/4" thick, and the line winder worked as advertised. The spacer fix will not work on my ultra light reel but I plan on mounting the line winder on another rod or dowel and keep it close to the ultra light reel. The Piscifun Line Winder solves, for me, the biggest headache of spin fishing, spooling the line. If you have spooling line mastered don't buy this. But if you want something that make spooling line nearly foolproof, get one of these. I would have given this thing 5 stars if I had not had to use the spacer.
