While I am not sure what is meant by "sheerness" or "thickness" in the context of 6" x 9" speakers, I gave these speakers the highest marks simply because they have transformed my listening experience in my car. I drive a Mini Cooper S and replaced the factory speakers with these Pioneer speakers. The improvement in sound quality is startling! First of all, the tweeters in the five-way speakers provide excellent reproduction of the high end. Cymbals now sparkle and sizzle when I listen to my favorite band, Little Tommy and the Blues Kings. On the low end, the bass is both deep and full. It isn't a match for a separate subwoofer, but, for the music that I listen to, Rock and Roll, Blues, Gospel, Jazz and R&B, it is excellent. The small mid-woofers fill in the middle of the music with clarity and punch. Little Tommy never sounded so good! I am sure that there are better car speakers in the world, but, for the money, these are a fantastic bargain. I don't know how well they will last, as I just installed them four days ago, but, if they were only to last a year, I would gladly buy them again just for the sound quality they offer.

Used these speakers to replace the front door oem speakers in a 2003 dodge ram 1500. They were very easy to install, and had the mounting bracket and wires included. I had to cut the oem connector and attach the one included. Worked great, sound quality is decent for the price, if you are looking for heavy bass these are not made for that purpose.

I initially bought a set of cheepo speaker to replace the failed factory ones in my truck, I was never happy as they were worse than the factory speakers. Then one of the cheap ones quit working about 3 months later. Good luck getting a warranty. So I bought these Pioneer. 2 months and I have been very pleased with the sound. Not tinny or muffled. Seems a good buy for the price.

I have these in portable boxes in the back seat of a rav 4 with a 500 watt rms amp pushing 125 rms per channel. I have it set abot 3/4 power so about 80 watts each and THEY ROCK!!!!!! Handle it with no problems and the sound quality is amazing with no distortion!!!! I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! I would buy them again in a heartbeat!

I hooked these to my radio without the amp at first, sounded great but i wanted more. So i decided to get the pioneer gm d8604 amp to go with them. Man the sound quality after i hooked the amp to them is amazing! I got 2 on my front doors & 2 on my rear deck, i would buy again!

Sound awsome , I'm just received my new head unit and amplifier. I'll be hook up soon these speakers need more power then stock to really get the best out them .

Surprised at the amount of bass these put out over the stock speakers. Biggest difference was volume, these things get loud. Its like I got stadium speakers in the back seat.

Ok, my pioneer 600w 6×9's came in 2day, opened them up 2 inspect...first thing HELL NAWL...the magnet was small compared to the pioneer 3ways with a bigger magnet. I was MAD bout that but I went to go hook them up, & man them 5ways was screaming and Rockin their ass off....lemme find out IF THEY ARE LOUD for a small magnet....so I guess it's balanced, small Wal-Mart magnet with loud sound! Yea I would recommend pioneer 2 any person
