  • Excellent budget true 1200 watt subwoofer amplifier
It's nice to see a "budget" amplifier perform well. This Pioneer GM-D9601 is rated to deliver 800 watts RMS at 2 ohms or 1200 watts RMS at 1 ohm. I have the luxury of a machine capable of testing amplifiers and I showed the following results: 806w @ 2 ohms (up to 1% THD), 14.14Vdc, 83.8A current draw 1206w @ 1 ohm (up to 1% THD), 13.85Vdc, 122.6A current draw 1768w @ 1 ohm (dynamic power), 14.18Vdc All tests were at 40Hz, much lower than the manufacturers rated measurements at 100Hz (and more difficult on the amp). The specs provided by Pioneer also stated their measurements were obtained 14.4Vdc. As you can see by my measurements, I still got rated power at less voltage. This is a good thing! Amp did well, exceeded ratings, seems to be very well built. You can see my full review on YouTube under username BigDWiz. Just search for Pioneer GM-D9601 Amp Dyno test and it should be the top result. Great amp for the $$ here. Good job Pioneer! ... show more

  • Bad sub's causes amp to fry, new amps have lasted 2 years! Awesome
My first amp failed but the seller was quick to respond to my request of a new amp. Great seller and great amp! Thank You! Edit. Replacement amplifier still going strong. 2 out of 2 original amplifiers failed. That makes 2 failed amps out of 3. Terrible. DO NOT BUY. One of the original amplifiers had the blue light come on and low sound output. I sent it back when I noticed that. Got a replacement. Second original amplifier, I noticed a couple days ago no longer has the blue power light on. A month or so ago I noticed less sound like the old one. Thought nothing of it, well now the amp is dead. Still have it wired into my car, so I'm hoping to remove it soon. Since it is now out of warranty, I'm planning on repairing it myself. I will post pictures of repairs made, with replacement parts linked. Hopefully it doesn't burn my car down by the time I have a chance to take it out. Since that seems to be what happened to one guy. Never mind my bad. Fuses went bad (have had two out of four shorted subsoofers all along killing amps.) Awesome amplifiers! Highly recommend. Going on 2 years strong now. Bumping harder then ever. ... show more

  • Great amp with a small footprint!
Great little amp! Make no mistake, even though this amp is compact, it really packs a punch. Makes my dual voice coil 18 inch sub thump! The settings are really precise and you can really dial in what frequency and gain you want. I didn't think I needed the external remote gain but when I installed it and turned it up it really made a difference. My car now rattles and bumps, and now I need to buy some sound deadener material to clean up the bass. Would buy again, really good value for the price. ... show more

  • Worked one day then took a dump.
Will try on other subs but for me i might be getting 500w out of it. Doesnt seem like some 2400w amp. Wish was 2 channel so could atleast drop the ohm load down for my set up. It has stayed cool and functions pretty good. Its an amp so 4 screws is all ot takes to install, running all the wires is the hassle. Sounds ok just doesnt seem to have the power i expected tho i am running 4 ohms so that maybe on my end of the install. Not too heavy and about the size of an old encyclopedia. EDIT: day 2 trying to push a pioneer 10 and it goes i to eternal protection. Took it inside and ran the sub to a skar 500w amp snd the sub worked fine. Pioneer used to be my go to company but this is it done. Returned for a refund. ... show more

  • Unreal Power and my wallet thanked me.
First off... the shipper failed BIG time. I paid for next day shipping and placed my order at 7am on a Tuesday. I received it Thursday at 8pm. They shipped the amplifier without boxing it. Just slapped my address on the Pioneer box and dropped it in the mail. My amp got to me ripped open and the box taped from the inside in multiple places. Also missing the bass boost knob and cord. The top had a few scratches but I wet sanded and re-clearcoated it. I reached out to Amazon and they made it right though. I was on a time crunch to get this thing in so I told them I'd rather see if it worked... the rest could be worked out if it did..... AND OH DID IT WORK!! I'm running the GM-D9601 at 2 OHM pushing 2 Memphis Audio 10inch M5's. I have another 5 channel Pioneer pushing 2 shallow mount 10 inch pioneer and 6 Tsm650pro's... I got the amp installed and straight SLAMMED it for 2 hours straight... not ONE clip and the amp was at most warm to the touch... this thing is SO worth the money. I ran 0 gauge and used a distribution block to run power to both amps, both receiving 0 gauge connection. If planning to take 0 gauge to the amp, be sure to order a reducer. ... show more

  • Good power but arrived DOA
I purchased based on a few amp dyno reviews. It puts out pretty close to rated RMS power at 1OHM. Durring initial setup and tuning a internal electronic exploded. My guess is a capacitor failed. I replaced it with the same amp with no changes to wiring all sounds good! Would have been 5 stars if it wasn't DOA but at this price point it is hard to complain. it is powering a pair of Skar audio VD10s D4 ohm subs in a 1 CU ft sealed box. Very clean power. The highs: Compatible with high voltage (speaker level inputs) and low voltage RCAs Bass knob Small form factor for 1200+ watts Built in ATX fuses for extra protection Runs very cool even behind truck seats ... show more
