  • I love this brand!
This brand is my favorite! Colors are vivid and opaque. Great for rock painting and other art. These have never pooled on me when I’ve started them and I’ve never had them go dull in this size. The larger ones the nib (tip) will flatten some with time as with any others. I enjoy these the most and they last a super long time!! ... show more

  • First Timer
This is my first time to experiment with this type of marker. I was working on the mixed media paper, that is probably around 90lb paper, so not as durable as water color or preferred paper. I also realized that I probably needed to be working with a medium tip for the bulk of the work and use these for highlights and details since they are extra fine. I did notice some scratching, and I wasn't sure if the fine point was tearing the paper or digging through the paint, but, again, I am a TOTAL NOOB at paint markers. I did think that it was fun, and I loved the way they blended. I don't know if there's a point where you need to let the work dry before you keep going or how long you have to work color in. I know, with real acrylics, if your paint starts to dry and gets tacky, you'll start picking up color instead of laying it down, like the brush is just plowing through it, so maybe that's what was happening. This set is more of a supplemental set to what would be a main set of basic colors. That being said, it's not going to have a white, a black, a bright blue, or pinks and purples. The colors are mostly pretty muted and strangely lacking in brown or dark colors. While it is a nice selection of earth tones, you would likely need additional colors in order to paint a landscape. However, the price of these is actually pretty decent compared to some others. Pintar offers additional sets of markers to build your full set of colors. ... show more

  • the colors are beautiful! fine line pens for detail work
These markers are SO beautiful. I have quite a few acrylic markers but I'd never seen a whole set with these shades, especially in a fine liner. The color of the paint is beautiful- muted, toned down shades. They can skew either natural OR pastel, depending on how they are used. The paint is opaque, dries fairly quickly, and very muted. It does dry with a bit of a shine, but I don't mind that since I do use it with acrylics and sometimes gouache. The pens themselves are fairly easy to prime, work well without blobbing, and not very scratchy. Some paint pens of this small size nib are very scratchy, and when they scratch, the splatter paint so that their marks seem "feathered", but these worked well without a lot of scratching at all. I didn't use every single pen in the set for extensive periods of time, so I have no way of knowing if one of the pens will begin to scratch at the end of its life (sometimes pens like this will begin to sputter when their paint is almost used up and the nib gets soft) but they work beautifully so far. Very pleased. ... show more

  • Fun to Draw with Paint!
I really like to use my new Pintar Earth Tone Paint Pens. If you like to draw, this is a great medium to use as it's just like drawing with any marker, but the results are smoother due to the paint. The color variety is really beautiful. This provides a great palette in earthen tones. I found that it is essential to fully prime the tips to avoid scratching, the tips are very fine and work great for highlighting lines. They can be used on their own, or with other mediums like brush on acrylics, watercolors or with other types of markers. I used mine for highlighting some edges in a painting and also to cover the edges of paper I folded to make miniature books, which works much better with paint vs markers that can bleed. They came packaged well and the box is well-suited for storage between uses. I find this set to be a good value and recommend it for beginners as well as more advanced users. I hope you find my experience using the paint pens helpful as you kindly click the button below. ... show more

  • Good For The Price, But A Bit Scratchy..
This is a really good price for the quantity you get. There are a lot of beautiful colors included. Just make sure you know that these are the colors you want before purchasing. This set is specifically made to provide a certain palette. The ink comes out well and everything was sealed. The only downside is that these are a bit scratchy.... but I guess there has to be a downside to saving money. If you don't mind the scratchiness, then these will work well for you. If you can't stand it, then I would recommend investing in a more expensive set that does not have that problem. ... show more

  • Beautiful medium tip paint markers
Easy-flowing Japanese ink fills these pens in unusual earth tones (though six blues and vibrant spring green are also included. They are easy to use and the pigments are opaque. I tried the yellow pen on black paper and it was positively vibrant. These would be great for rock art, wood, metal, and glass. A beautiful set for artists and crafters. ... show more
