I do a lot of 3D printing and sometimes breaking out the paints and brushes is more work that I'm really wanting to invest in a project where a marker would work just fine. I've been using these mostly for painting 3D prints in PLA and resin. Fresh out of the box all the colors would get working and "painting" very readily. The large end is decent at getting a good amount of material down over a larger area but doesn't really come out looking smooth as the paint tends to pool on the edges of the marker's stroke and leaves the center much thinner. Going back over the area a few times in different directions and with different pressure I was able to get down a mostly even base coat that way. The fine tips I had more trouble getting to work readily. The paint doesn't seem to flow well to the tip of the fine tip but once a flow gets going it works as I'd expect. The streaking/pooling effect the large end suffers from isn't present with the fine tip, but it's very noticeable when you hit a rough surface as it stops painting and the tip will fray very easily. It's frayed on all of my markers at this point, even ones I've been super careful about not using on rough parts. After active use it's getting harder and harder to get a flow started on either tip. I usually have to store them with the tip I want to use down with these in a vertical pen holder, otherwise I had to make a space to keep them stored lying down horizontally to be sure I have much a chance to use either tip. I feel it's in part they're already running low on paint in addition to them drying out. Sometimes dipping the tip in water will help get things going but the resulting painting is noticeably thinned and runny. So, these seem relatively short lived once I started using them, but I did get a lot of use out of them still. I got the 24 color set thinking it'd be a good mix of colors for various projects. It surprised me though - there isn't really a solid green or yellow. The blue is fine but the red seems to dry more orange. The 36 color set looks like it has better options, but still might be lacking in simple base/core colors. I can't really blend colors with these either. I made the mistake of using the silver before the previous color dried entirely and that pen still paints with that hue mixed in with the silver. They do mostly dry pretty quickly, but it needs an hour or so at room temp to really dry properly and not bleed into the pens for the next coat or colors. I did experiment with drybrushing with these a bit - specifically I painted some of the marker onto a drybrush and did the dry brushing with that. It works okay, not as good as "normal" acrylics, but it'll do in a pinch if the color matches what I need. Notably - I didn't have to prime the PLA or Resin for this paint to adhere. It will still smudge or scrape off fairly easily on the first few coats but It's been great for a stand-in primer for my nicer paints to go on top of and that's been working well for me. For the price I'm not really disappointed at all. They're good for putting down color on otherwise single-color matt prints without me having to use up my nicer paints for that. I feel they've served me plenty well enough for the price before I had notable problems with flow and drying out. It'd be nicer if it didn't matter what orientation they were stored in for using either given tip, but it's fine knowing I have to be mindful with them. I might try out the 36 color set if I reorder these, but I'm satisfied with what I got. ... show more

This set is a really good price for paint markers. There is a nice variety of colors in this box as well. I appreciate the different tip ends for each color , that is really nice for doing detailed work. However, there is a color variance between the tips on the same pen that is sometimes quite severe. We've had this set for a couple weeks and there are already 3 that dried up, with minimal use. There are also a number of pens that have leaked while not in use. The pens are not labeled, and there is a labeled color chart on the back but it is hard to know which pen goes to which color, especially since none seem to match. It would make more sense to forgo the chart completely and just label the pens. This set would probably work good for one large project, but probably won't last for long storage. Overall, it's really a case of you get what you pay for. ... show more
