Description

Gothikana meets Dexter in this sinfully delicious dark romance about a film student who’s secretly tracking the murders of a serial killer—unaware he’s also her brooding professor. There’s a serial killer prowling the city, and no one has noticed… Except for me. I see the connections between his kills— The artistic references, The careful curation of the scene, The macabre motifs that turn violence into vivid works of art. When I recreate one of his murders for my film project at Cresswell University, I unknowingly present it to the very man who committed the crime. Professor Maddox Shaw. A world-renowned artist struggling to recapture his muse. A serial killer caught deep in the web of a dangerous secret society. A man who makes me come alive. Sleeping with your professor is bad enough. Sleeping with a serial killer is just asking for trouble. When trouble finds me, it’s not Maddox, but the powerful people pulling his strings. There’s no line they won’t cross to keep their secrets safe. And there’s no line Maddox won’t cross to keep me. After all, he’s good at killing people. Read more

  • Such a good read! Definitely recommend!
Format: Kindle
This is a sinfully good dark professor-student romance 🥵 Reyna is a strong and independent woman who is a film student. She just happens to love recreating murders of a specific serial killer for her film assignments Maddox Shaw is a well known and successful artist that just happens to become Reyna’s professor. Reyna moves to New York to attend Cresswell University to try and learn who her father really was. From their very first interaction Reyna and Maddox have the most tension and banter! On the hunt for the truth about her father she uncovers more than she bargained for. This book has the best tension, banter, and spice 🥵 One minute you will be laughing the next you will be on the edge of your seat guessing what will happen next! I can’t recommend this book enough! Who doesn’t love an independent FMC who isn’t afraid to say what she thinks and a possessive MMC that will do anything for her even if it’s murder ... show more

  • Promising until it wasn't
Format: Paperback
💫 DNF at 59% PINK INK had an interesting premise and seemed to hold a lot of promise but, ultimately, it didn't work for me. Maddox Shaw was a well-known artist who worked with mixed media, creating art from death. Unbeknownst to most everyone, he was a serial killer and his killings were the foundation of his art. Reyna Sinaga was a student filmmaker who recreated crime scenes through her films based on the deaths of a serial killer's victims. What she didn’t realize was that the professor of her film class where she was presenting these films was, in fact, the one inspiring her work. ✨️ What I liked: ✔️ Maddox lacked vision, no longer able to convey emotions on canvas but he found his muse in Reyna. ✔️ Yes, Maddox was a serial killer but he delivered justice through his kills. His victims were those who had wronged others and he sought vengeance for what they had done. ✔️ Reyna was a strong FMC, challenging Maddox, standing up to him, not backing down, unafraid to speak her mind and ask for what she wanted. ✔️ Maddox's brother, Spencer, kept me highly entertained and I found myself enjoying his character arc more than the main plot at times. ✨️ What I didn’t: ❌️ The plot was very slow-moving without much happening and I was bored and unable to read more than a few chapters at a time without losing focus. ❌️ I read a lot of dark romance and I honestly didn't think Maddox was morally gray enough. Sure, he was a serial killer and the story was unhinged and chaotic but it was carried out in a more satirical way. More often than not, Maddox was infuriating and not the MMC I thought he would be. He cowered under the eye of those who pulled the strings and I expected more pushing back against what he was ordered to do. ❌️ When Maddox compared his feelings for Reyna to that of a teenage crush, I lost all respect for him. And there's just so many times I need to hear the same things over and over about how much he wanted Reyna and the things he wanted to do to her. ❌️ The "will they, won't they" going through their thoughts was absolutely exhausting and too drawn out from both viewpoints. Make a move or don't. At one point, I couldn't bring myself to care anymore. ❌️ I wanted to learn more about the secret society that controlled everything but, at least for the first 59%, that part of the story seemed to mostly fall into the background. ❌️ I was hoping to find out the truth about Reyna's father, though I do have a good guess about what it could be, but I wasn't invested enough to carry it through to the end. At its core, this was a story about obsession and control and freedom, seeing the beauty in the darkness, finding the person who truly sees and understands you, all of you. Unfortunately, the execution of these themes fell short, in my opinion. That being said, there are many positive reviews of this book so you may have a different experience and might want to give it a try if you enjoy the following tropes: ✨️Age Gap ✨️Professor x Student ✨️Serial Killer ✨️Obsessed MMC ✨️Secret Society ... show more

  • Bloody brilliant!!
Format: Paperback
Maddox and Reyna's story is an artistic masterpiece (someone please catch this phenomenal pun!) that was clever, hilarious, oh so original and wonderfully well written ! Think serial un-aliving as an actual art form meets secret society meets naughty British professor and American student turned from enemies to lovers who both have dads whose choices led them to the paths they are on today. It's a mash up of tropes that somehow just works. One of my favorite quotes of the book and a pretty great character summary came from Maddox when his art piece was just not working for him, "What is this? I don’t want the police to see this. It has to be my worst *unaliving* to date." And Reyna, she was witty and brilliant and courageous and never held back her thoughts but was always open to critique. She knew how to stand toe to toe with an opponent and not blink and it was incredible. Now go read this book if you are ready for something refreshingly original and bloody brilliant. ... show more

  • My newest dark romance obsession
Format: Paperback
Maddox completely stole the show, and I am officially obsessed! 🖤🎨 I literally could not read it fast enough! This was my second book by Avina, and let’s just say I completely ate it up so it won’t be my last. I loved absolutely everything about this story. As an art lover myself, I was so captivated by the creativity and art themes woven throughout the plot. The forbidden romance trope was executed flawlessly. The dynamic between Reyna and Maddox had me kicking my feet and squealing. I seriously ate this book alive! Maddox’s inner monologue is top-tier, and the banter between him and Reyna was elite! I loved that Reyna is fiercely independent and wasn’t afraid to put Maddox in his place a couple of times. I was absolutely cheering her on. If you are looking for a fast-paced read, add this to your TBR immediately! ... show more

  • this has to be a bestseller
Format: Paperback
i am in awe. speechless. with each book, avina just gets better and pink ink is no exception. this book is so so good and i’m embarrassed to admit how many times i cried ??? she does so well at writing characters you can fall in love and sympathize with. reyna, my beloved. come here and let me give you a smooch. headstrong, fierce, stubborn, and creative. a woman i would want to be (maybe minus scoping out crime scenes…) but simply can’t. she’s so cool and perfect and i love her. maddox, you beautiful, unhinged lunatic. it’s fictional men like him that make me wish i hadn’t dropped out of college after approximately 24 hours. anywho, i digress. 5 ⭐️ no notes. pure perfection 🫪 ... show more

Format: Paperback
pink ink absolutely DEVOURED me and i am not the same 😭📌 reyna moves to nyc for cresswell university — degree? sure. but really she’s chasing ghosts of the dad she barely knew before he passed. she goes to an art gallery, drags a painter’s work without knowing who he is… and surprise, he’s her new professor 💀 the audacity of the universe reyna has baddie behavior only. strong, stubborn, the kind of fmc who stands her ground even when she probably shouldn’t — a tough little cookie i wanted to protect AND cheer for. so many moments i just wanted to hug her 🥹 but MADDOX SHAW. broody professor. artist. serial k¡||er. THE TRIFECTA 😂 that accent, that mouth, that mind — giddy and drooling the entire time, no shame there is something about a serial k¡||er romance that just hits different and pink ink proved it all over again 🔪🎨 ... show more

Format: Kindle
Okay! this was my first dive into Avina's work and what an intro it was. I will admit she has been on my TBR for a while now. This book had a little bit of everything sprinkled in. I mean the slow burn, the various plot twist that just knocked at my door. The dark romance, dark academia, the secret society vibes!!! Yes, please. The intricacies of the storyline were on full display like a masterpiece. What a ride ... show more

  • “That’s the thing about us. We both like bad ideas.”
Format: Kindle
Amazing dark romance with professor x student relationship, secret society and dark academia vibes. I loved this book! Amazing! It took me a while to get into the story, but when I did, I didn’t want to put this book down. The plot was interesting, I’m always a fan of a good secret society story and this book did not disappoint. Loved the dark academia vibes! The tension between Maddox & Reyna was delicious and I loved their flirty banter. The slow burn was so good (even though I wanted to yell at them to kiss already a few times lol) and the spice between them was spicing. I highly recommend checking this book out ... show more
