  • A Great Headset
It’s an amazing headset with great specs, first the bad then the good. I went through 9 of them so far, 7 of which came with dead pixels, the 8th has a scratch under the lens and a broken cable. I got a 9th headset and it worked out perfectly! i love to keep it on 144 hertz refresh rate. this way the fov only gets cut off by 3-5 degrees. and i still get a higher refresh rate and field of view than all other competitors the resolution is great, the fov is amazing. the screen door effect is almost non existent. i recommend the silicon protective sleeve. the headset sticks off of your face more than other headsets and if you are not used to that you may bump the headset and it is better to protect the headset than let it get damaged. i would absolutely buy from Pimax again. they have a perfect niche for high quality premium headsets. no other company has as high of a field of view or refresh rate as Pimax. I love how modular these headsets are. if you do not like the headphones on them? for $50 you can buy new headphones on their store and they just click right in. if you want eye tracking, you can buy it and click it right into the front usbc port on the top of the headset. this headset is very easy to set up and very easy to use. their customer support is very helpful and kind as well. i just love their products! ... show more

  • Gyros for use with lighthouse does not work, support not helpful
One of the features of this headset is that it can be used without lighthouses/base stations, as it has a Gyro for basic axis movements. The gyros do not work well and it drifts 20 to 25 degrees every minute, making playing it for sitting sims unusable reached to support who were not able to help in solving the issue ... show more

  • Wide, wide, wide!
Bought this for our son, who is quite the VR aficionado. He reports to us that it performs as advertised, and he enjoys the increased field of view. As expected, there are some tradeoffs in resolution and refresh rate when going for maximum FOV, but this was expected and he is very happy with it. He has Quest, quest 2, HTC Vive Pro eye, Valve Index, and now this Pimax 5K super. His favorites are the Pimax 5k super and the Valve Index. ... show more

  • Not what I expected
Updated from 1 to 3 stars (8/13/22) I've since learned that the problems I was having with Assetto Corsa and other games are the not fault of the Pimax headset, but just how VR support is at the app level at this point in time. I still think that the specifics of the headset that I describe below make this a product that you should skip. The HP Reverb G2 may not have the FOV, but it has a way better picture for about half the cost if you find it on sale. Original review - This device is not what it claims to be. The resolution doesn't matter because the end result of the perceived resolution is extremely low. It's most likely due to it using that resolution to spread across so much of the visible FOV that it ends up using less pixels for any given amount of space than a standard headset. The image is blurry and pixilated, and the screen door effect is in full force. Not sure how they can say it doesn't exist in the product description. Completely false advertising. And all of this after spending hours troubleshooting, upgrading firmware, searching for any information, reading poorly written articles, and tinkering with settings that have terrible descriptions. Once I got the headset to actually turn on, sync with the software and show anything, it took another few hours to get a game of any kind to work. Some games like Assetto Corsa Competition I never got to work. It would have jumpy laggy images and was not usable no matter which settings I tried. The standard Assetto Corsa worked, but the menus didn't. So, you need to take the headset off, load the game, start the track you want, then put the headset back on and hope the tracking didn't get messed up. The built-in 9 axis tracking was always drifting to the right. By the end of a race, my head was cranked all the way to the right causing me to get motion sickness from not pointing my head in the same direction I was moving. The game itself was almost unplayable due to the low image quality. You can hardly see the turns much less the brake markers. This product and software is not ready for prime time. For the price they are asking, this thing should be locked down, function perfectly, and provide an experience above and beyond the competition. This is just not that. ... show more
