  • Pimax crystal is really nice.
I love this purchase. Really great for the driving sim's I do.

  • It's easy to see why there are so many negative reviews for this item...
Let me begin by saying that I am 59 years old and I have have worked my entire career in tech, primarily in the computer industry (from the release of the original IBM PC, experience in component level electronics repair, data communications on every network standard since 1982, inside/outside plant voice and data circuit repair, field operations management for data communications, IT Management, information security, and some UI design for software development). All that to say that I find this product from Pimax to be a hot mess. This may be the most half-baked hardware I have seen in years. I can't say much about the hardware, other than the basic hardware install was successful. That's it. The software is very poorly designed, the UI is terrible. The various settings menus in Pimax Play are so insanely disjointed - not just the current version, but every version that can be seen in various setup guides on YouTube. Some settings have been renamed more than once on various versions, some settings have been removed, and some are so poorly named, described, or implemented that I've spent more time trying to find usable information online (guides, user forums for this product and for software that provide VR functionality, and other related discussions online, etc). I am waiting to hear back from support, but from others comments describing the same frustrating time vampire that is Pimax Play, I'm not holding my breath. My gaming PC is a clean build with no hardware issues, no driver issues, no compatibility issues (well, before this anyway), and no performance issues. * Intel i5-13600K CPU * Gigabyte Z690 main board * 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 6000 DDR5 6000 RAM * 3x Samsung 980 Pro 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD's * 1x Samsung 870 Evo 2TB SATAIII SSD * Logitech peripherals: logitech G502 lightspeed mouse, G815 mechanical keyboard * Game controllers: Logitech G Pro direct drive racing wheel, Simnet SP Pro racing load cell pedal set with haptic motors, Thrustmaster TH8a hall sensor H-pattern shifter (highly modified: short throw, raised 6-speed+reverse gate, carbon fiber shift knob) * 2560x1440 165Hz LG Gear 27" monitor (gaming) * 2550x1440 75Hz Dell 25" monitor (for productivity, image and video processing, and extended desktop) A few weeks ago I reinstalled Win11 Pro, current drivers, some system utilities that I use regularly, Steam, and Automobilista 2 racing sim (precisely why I bought the Pimax Crystal light headset). And here's where progress came to a halt. There are many guides online supposedly showing how to get this race sim and VR headset. So I have AMS2 running on the 27" monitor, and I have Pimax Play installed. I'll have another go tomorrow and see if I can resolve the issue. If this persists I'm going to return the Pimax headset for a full refund. I would prefer not to do so, but the price is simply too high for an expensive paperweight. It must work, and very soon because I'm losing interest at a quick pace. Should I end up resolving this issue, I'll revise my review. At the end of the day, it's not critical. It's just a game. If I am unable to resolve the issue then I will return it as a token of my appreciation for all the joy this product has brought me. 🫤 At this moment I simply cannot recommend this item to anyone. Hopefully this changes soon. ... show more

  • Unmatched visuals!
Got this super quick, basically within 2 days. Packaging was perfect and the install was easy. My only gripe is their website—the software download was painfully slow. They really need to host it somewhere else too. But, once you get in-game, it's insane. Alyx looks fantastic and shooting zombies in Arizona Sunshine Remake is crazy immersive. The controller tracking is pinpoint accurate for guns. The built-in audio is loud and clear enough that I don't even bother putting on a headset. It's not too heavy, fits incredibly snug on your face, and has zero light bleed. Definitely grab one! ... show more

  • Easy set up, not for me!!!
Sorry, for some the crystal light headset seemingly it’s a wonderful product and I was looking forward to the same. However, not to be for me. I’m not a computer geek, knowledgeable enough for my PC. First off when I originally fired up the crystal light headset the introductory screen was totally blurry. Mountains were doubled, etc. I measured twice my IPD and was able to get the visual down to just a blur. An additive to that I had to adjust the IPD in the settings menu to help accomplish, however, still a blur. My vision is good and I know it was not my lack of adjusting the IPD to the appropriate setting, never did accomplish total vision correctness. Originally on my computer setting up Pimax play and making sure all components were up-to-date prior to receiving Pimax headset. Not only was the visual blurry, but it drifted and lacked the normal head tracking capability, etc. I spent hours trying to rectify with several advisory inputs from various sources. I.e., AI and Google inputs from those in the Know relative to how to correct malfunctions. Without a lengthy dissertation, all I can say is I was so looking forward to what apparently is rated as one of the top visual headsets on the market and especially for me to fly Microsoft flight simulator 2024, I was so looking forward to having this headset. All I can say is those of you that are looking to buy the Pimax crystal light headset, I wish you luck and hope it works initially as advertised with the simplicity that Pimax video advertises as the simplicity of initially setting up the headset on your PC. I gave up and returning the headset to Amazon. Thank God for Amazon return policy, they are the best. PS I have a RTX 4090 and a good CPU!! ... show more

  • Great but u have to know what ur doing
I like the head set but gettin everything set up was a challenge for me. But that being said this is the first time i had a computer that could even run this type of VR headset. Once i got everything setup correctly its been great.

  • Worth Every Penny.
Coming from an HP G2, the difference in clarity is night and day. The pixels are so dense that I can barely see any grid lines or screendoor effect. It’s an expensive piece of gear, but the premium visual upgrade justifies the cost. My only wish is for a slightly larger FOV, but given the current price point, it’s a fair trade-off. I mainly use it for combat flight sims like DCS, and the immersion is incredible. If you have the budget and love simulation games, this is a solid investment. ... show more

  • Insane Clarity, Butter Smooth
Decided to finally pull the trigger on VR, and man, this headset does NOT disappoint. The visual clarity is absolutely insane. I’ve been running sim racing titles and Half-Life: Alyx, and it handles them without breaking a sweat. Everything is buttery smooth and looks incredible. If you're on the fence about getting your first headset, just get this one. 10/10. ... show more
