I have used many pens throughout school, college and university and no other pen outperforms Pilot. The worst pens are Papermate. Each dozen of Papermate pens, there would be at least four or five that did not work (dried ink or broken nib). That was extremely frustrating when I just wanted a pen to just do what it is supposed to do - provide ink to write. Each Pilot pen is extremely reliable. The ink always works and never dries out. I am so confident with these pens that I don't even bother purchasing any other pen and even though these pens cost a little more, there are none that fail so overall the cost is less than other manufacturers. I feel like a dork for having a favorite pen but I keep buying these when I run out because I NEED them. I can't find them in store and they do run out of ink kind of quickly with the amount I write. The are so smooth to write with and the tip never catches on the paper. It isn't fast drying and a lot of ink comes out (which is why I love it) so if you're a left hander I'd skip these. But if you're like me and want something akin to a quill pen these are perfect and release a lot of ink to write super smooth ... show more

I absolutely love the way these pens write - crisp, clean, fluid, no smearing and dries quickly. However the pen desperately needs a redesign of the retracting mechanism and ballpoint tip. As a nurse, my pens are kept in my pocket until use; the pen very easily retracts to open, and the tip bends with little pressure. I have not only caused ink to leak onto me/my clothes on multiple occasions, but once the tip is bent, the pen is useless and I have literally never been able to avoid bending the tip for more than 2-3 weeks…disappointing for a pricier pen. ... show more
