I really like the construction and versatility of this bar. The bar itself assembles solidly with no bend under load. The "eye bolts" that the resistance bands clip to rotate providing free range of motion. There are number of exercises that this bar can be used with to strengthen different muscles. Pilates is hard! Some exercises really hit "stabilization" muscles we don't normally use. Go slow with those, don't hurt yourself. The only slight disappointment comes when I use this to squat. I'm not too tall (64 inches) and the bands go slack just a few inches into the squat. I wish there were a way to adjust the resistance band length. ... show more

I ordered this because I wanted to use a bar with my existing bands, but I was pleased to get a whole new set of bands to boot! The bar is nice and solid, and I love the versatility that this adds to my regular bands workout. I know nothing about Pilates, but that doesn't concern me because I know how to make use of this bar in combination with the bands. Squats with free weights, done incorrectly, can really destroy your back. I like this exercise bar. It was easy to put together. It is easy to use. It comes with 2 bands for resistance. I wish the instructions for different types of exercises you can do with it were a little clearer.

I was surprised at how heavy the package is. well made heavy duty bar with free rollin' bearings. I feel safe in using this with heavier rated resistance bands. The bands that came with it is kinda too long for doing a squat, but again, all about this is surely height dependence. When I was a teenager, my late grandpa told me that the greatest lesson I would ever learn in life was that “there’s no such thing as a self cleaning oven”. At the time, I didn’t get it. What did he mean? Of course there are self cleaning ovens - appliance stores sell them all the time, and many people own one. What he meant was that even if you had a self cleaning oven, it wouldn’t clean itself. It might be easier to clean, but you still have to use some old fashioned work and elbow grease to get the work done. I immediately thought of my grandpa’s quote when I started using this Pilates Bar Kit. It is a fitness tool that will definitely help to add some resistance and make my workouts more effective. However, it is not going to do the work for me. I suggest that anyone who thinks Pilates is for sissies try this bar out. Yes, it’s low impact and not as macho as free weights or a fitness machine, but it will work you. You will be sore in places that you didn’t even know you had muscles. But I keep coming back. It makes squats so much more challenging. I admit, they’re not my favorite, but they are necessary for fitness. This kit is so versatile. Many, many exercises and workouts can be done with this simple batch of equipment - no need for fancy machines or gym membership. But you will have to start and do the work yourself. ... show more

I've never used a bar with bands before, but I'm so glad I tried it! This little kit is really impressive. I've done pilates with or without the table, but I really like the workout you get with this bar. It's kind of like a blend of the two. Everything seems really well-made and easy to use. I get a great workout from just a couple of exercises so I like that you can change the weight. I'll have to work up to some exercises. Good set of Pilates equipment to do at home workouts. The box was shrink wrapped but I did find a strand of reddish brown hair in the box. My hair is black. I took a star off for this as I was a little grossed out. I’m not sure if this was a return but I had to sanitize the equipment before using. Other than that I love the equipment. ... show more
