  • Excellent value. Very FAST. Very impressive prints.
Size: Sonic Mini
I have been FDM printing for about 6 years. I generally use my printers for engineering and functional designs. This is my first resin printer. I chose the Sonic Mini over others primarily for its screen life and speed. The printer is well constructed. The case is plastic, but all of the motion parts are machined aluminum or steel. It uses a linear rail for excellent stability. It does have some UV leakage from the rear of the unit, but I imagine that is an unavoidable effect of ventilating the interior. It does not appear to affect the prints. The unit is extremely quiet while operating. Using Siraya Tech resins, this printer is capable of amazing detail and dimensional accuracy. I have printed several threaded pieces, and they assemble flawlessly. Due to the LCD pixelation the detail is not perfect, sort of a satin finish, but still several orders of magnitude better than an FDM printer. The prints it produces are perfectly usable as functional parts. I am happy this version came with an aluminum vat, as reports are that the original plastic vat was cracking and virtually unusable. I also purchased an angled build plate, so basically all of the negatives associated with this printer are addressed. I WOULD like to see Phrozen include the angled plate as standard equipment in the future. The best way to avoid problems with the FEP is to use a couple drops of 3inOne PTFE lubricant on the film. Wipe it in with a lint free cloth and let it cure. I usually go overnight after a clean up. You will not see any sticking to the film at all. It has zero effect on the print quality. (Thanks to YouTube's Uncle Jessy for this tip.) Thus far I am extremely satisfied with this purchase, and should I need higher volume output I will definitely consider buying another. ... show more

  • Worth the money, Be sure to educate yourself on operation before ownership.
Size: Sonic Mini 8K
Worth Every cent. If your new to printing, be sure to educate yourself on operation before ownership. There are other tools you will need in addition to the printer alone, which works phenomenally. In addition to any printer you're going to need a few things: A fan (resin smells, Phrozen resin not so much), as well as a low light work space to modify post print / pre-cure projects that need working over. Cutting tools (for supports), Alcohol ISO 70%+ but 91% is best ( to remove excess resin pre-cure), An U.V. light around 405-420 nanometers wave length aka black light (to cure), Gloves (resin is NOT skin friendly), Paper Towels (for resin & ISO & messes). Slicer Software to make .ctb files (lychee slicer or others) All that being said the Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k is a WORK HORSE! It has Very large print bed for a "Small printer" and all the parts are made of high quality plastics and metals. The motors are very quite, it's well ventilated, Fast, Super adjustable, and Most Importantly. It's unbelievably accurate, this 8k printer is MAGIC! On the down side, as a North American Consumer, the manufacturer is over seas (England / Taiwan HQ ) which leads to longer delivery / Lead times. Also due to the young age of this Model Sonic Mini 8K there are not a lot of accessories available yet. While Older 4k models have flex plates and drip plates, ect, ect. Would still recommend 100% as Phrozen has nowhere to go but up from here! Get yourself Printing and join the Fun! ... show more

  • Excellent entry into high resolution resin printing
The product is excellent. The pairing of a small build plate and a 4k LCD allows for excellent print fidelity. The build plate is small so you may want to go for a mighty 4k if u want larger prints or more volume. Pros; Excellent print fidelity Value for money and a good quality product overall easy-to-use printer interface touchscreen An open system means that you have both a learning opportunity and the freedom to alter almost every setting Freedom to use virtually any resin in the market no lockouts no nonsense forced fake subscription to use a special resin or whatever. Basically, this is the best place to start Cons; fep film that comes with the printer should be changed to an nfep, buy this when buying the printer The printer overhead cover is not very effective at preventing premature polymerization of resin. apply a tint film or spray paint the cover The usb slot is to the left side instead of the front of the device no wifi connectivity there are some models that have it but its way too expensive Overall this is the best device to start using a resin based 3d printer Pick a slicer and have some fun ... show more

  • Not worth it
Size: Sonic Mini
Wish I could recommend this printer but it was such a disappointment. I gave this printer a fair shake and used it steadily for my business and hobbies. Got one back in October 2020 and everything was going great. Gorgeous quality prints in half the time of my other printers. However, within 3 weeks of owning it I noticed strange anomalies in my prints. I recognized it as some kind of g-code and printer communication/reading error, but since it only happened every other week I shrugged it off. Then it began happening once a week, then twice a week. That evolved into errors every other print. None of my other printers have ever had issues like this and I wanted to be done with it. I wasn't willing to let the speeds go so I returned it and ordered a replacement which arrived in Dec. I was relieved when the replacement seemed to work with no issues.... at first. Then the dreaded spaghettification (see pictures) manifested in this new printer, similar to the last, where it creeps on more viciously with time like some unfortunate electronic disease. Now I'm stuck with a printer that doesn't work and out $250. Not to mention hundreds of $$ worth of resin and time with all the fails. I will research potential fixes for these errors when I have time and may update this review with any solutions I find. I really wanted to like this printer and have plans of trying PHROZEN's Sonic Mighty 4k but not without great reservation. I recommend Elegoo for anyone looking for a reliable, easy to use, low price 3D printer. I have several and they have treated me and my customers well. As a bonus they actually have customer support that responds too. ... show more
