I bought this for an LG DVD player whose remote had gone bad, and programmed it for other devices (TV and VCR) at the same time. It works quite well and was easy to set up. The biggest drawback, which is common to all universal remotes, is that the device selector buttons have fixed names on them that don’t correspond to the actual devices. I don’t know any obvious way to get around that, short of having stickers or a little window you could slide a label card into. And yes, we do still have a VCR. ;-)

Very good little remote for the price. I wish the device buttons would light up. I’m gonna have to spend a little more money looks like and get another one. But if you don’t want the 💡 buttons this one is good.

This Philips branded 6 device remote control looks nice, feels nice in the hand and is a nice size for a universal remote. I tried three different inexpensive remotes. All three are very suitable for their price, but this model has the best feel to the buttons--slightly firmer, solid feel to them. However, the button layout of the blu-ray and other controls where nine function buttons encircle the play/pause buttons is confusing. I found the overall layout of the GE 8 device remote to make more sense--the HOME, MENU, BACK, and INFO? buttons are right next to the cursor keys for better ease of use. I would prefer AA batteries as they last longer, but that would make the remote case a little thicker. If you don't find the blu-ray button layout to be a problem, I heartily recommend this remote for you.
