It was o.k. It did not have a loud enough volume, for me. But I could not find a sony, so I had to get something else. I would recommend it for anyone who did not need a louder sound.

Not sure what I expected for $79, but this item will be returned. Shallow sound, on radio and CD player, inconvenient visuals and buttons, no remote included. Guess you get what you pay for.

    • Great sound, awful functionality.
PROS: Excellent sound, great value for a small boombox. Base-boost feature works well. CONS: Terrible functionality -- the worst I've ever encountered. LED screen is dark and impossible to read unless you're at eye level with the screen. Buttons are tiny and it's really hard to select the feature you want. But the sound is in fact superior to the pricier boombox that Sony has phased out. If the functionality had been designed as well as the sound quality, this would be a 5-star review. ... show more

    • Looks great, sounds great. No frills.
I had read reviews that mentioned the not so good sound quality of this Phillips Portable CD player. That has not been my experience. For a small unit, the sound is crisp with adequate range and the volume can get pretty loud if that’s what you want. Keep in mind that this is a pretty basic model. So there is no equalizer, “bass booster”, lighted dial or some of the other bells and whistles on more expensive sets. But I was looking for an inexpensive but decent portable to play my Christmas CDs while I am working at my desk. So it does the job. Looks great too. Gotta go. Time to change cds. ... show more
