The Philips Lumea 9900 Pro feels like a much more complete at-home IPL system than the basic devices I've seen. The four separate attachments for the body, face, bikini area, and underarms are especially useful because you're not trying to use the exact same attachment everywhere. The device feels well made, and the controls are straightforward once you get familiar with the process. I also appreciate the guidance because IPL isn't something I want to approach by simply guessing at settings or treatment areas. Having additional guidance makes the whole process feel less intimidating, especially when first getting started. Another thing I like is that treatments can be done at home and worked into a normal routine rather than scheduling appointments somewhere else. It does take some patience because this isn't something where you use it once and immediately judge the final results. Consistency with the treatment schedule is important. The different attachments also make treating smaller or more awkward areas easier than trying to maneuver one large treatment window everywhere. The face attachment in particular gives me more confidence when working on a smaller area. It's important to understand that IPL isn't appropriate for every combination of skin tone and hair color, so checking Philips' compatibility information and following the safety instructions is important before starting.     • Time will tell as to how good this product is.
Upon receipt of this product I wasn't particularly impressed. The box was banged up even though it was well packaged in the shipping container. It was so beat up I thought that perhaps this was used. But, I don't see any further evidence that that's the case it just looks like it was poorly treated before getting to me. I am a big fan of Philips personal products having tried many of their massagers and pain relief items. I was very excited to try this device. It is quite expensive to order so my expectations are high. Unfortunately, it's hard to leave a review in a short period of time because you may not see full results until after several uses. I do expect to update this review in the future based on the lasting effects of its use. The instructions that come with the device are very clear and thorough making this easy to use. It's also a reasonable way so it doesn't get tiring to go through an entire session. I was afraid that would be the case given its size, but it's not a problem. I didn't have any discomfort or issues after using - it's certainly better than razor burn! I have heard that it doesn't work as well on darker skin or hair but it seems to be working for me ( though I'm relatively fair skinned). I would have liked the product to have made it to me in better condition but as far as it's used it seems to be doing what it's supposed to. As I said I will have to evaluate this over time and update this review as time goes on. It is very expensive and therefore I expect perfection and that was not the case. But, if this works for the long term it will be well worth it! ... show more

Preliminary thoughts, im pretty impressed with this. It took me about an hour and a half to do both of my legs, but that was with a lot of breaks. The machine was physically doing its job for about 30 minutes of that time. The app works pretty well and had really in depth instruction videos for using the device, which i appreciated. My leg hair is gone for now, and im curious in 6 months how much will be gone. I plan on keeping up with the treatment plans and seeing how much I can progress with this device. Overall, it was pretty easy to use. It definitely hurts but its tolerable and it only takes a couple seconds for the pain to go away as well. I think this is an expensive product but it definitely works for every penny it costs. There's a reason this is priced above other hair removal devices, and its because this WORKS ... show more

I am so excited to see the results of this!! Its easy to use. It comes in a nice box with holders for each attachement. It feels nice and well made. I like the app which can be used to help guide you and most of all this doesnt require multiple treatments for like 8 weeks to start with. Its much faster and more simple to use!
