I have bought more philips hue bulbs than i ever imagine i would, and i think i made a good decision. While the bulbs always struck me as a little dimmer than expected, the colours and functionality (take zigbee options when available), are just unbeatable. I bought these lights to have some rgb smart lights to put around the house in a few places, but primarily for the Razer integration features. I own a few Razer products, and these are some of the only lights that work in conjunction with the Razer Synapse App, and products. I had issues with the app recognizing my lights as color lights, for the setting up zones feature, but Hue customer support was reachable through Facebook messenger, and they were super friendly and helpful. After all was said and done, a factory reset (and then update) of each bulb was the fix. If you run into any issues with the bulbs, try searching the instructions for factory resetting the bulbs, and try to reset the setup from there! The feature I think the Hue app is lacking, is the option to have your colors change on a loop. Almost every RGB strip, and smart light I've seen, has multiple options for this, and it's something I don't seem to see anywhere in the official Philips-made Hue app. There's many different "scenes" that they provide in the "Hue Scene Gallery", but there's not even an option to have it automatically change themes every X amount of time. You have to change the scene through the app manually. There's several different 3rd party apps and programs that cycle colors of your hue lights automatically, so I'm glad that there's an option out there. But for how expensive these lights are, I'm blown away by why this isn't a feature in the actual Hue app. Please Philips, add a color cycle feature to the app! Other than that complaint, I really do enjoy these lights. They create a nice ambiance to the room when watching movies, playing games, or relaxing. I probably wouldn't have spent this much on RGB smart lights if i didn't want the integration with the Razer products though, and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend these to others if they weren't looking to do the same. There are several other companies that offer similar lights/accessories, and probably have more features on their app. If you want lights that synchronize with your razer products though, these lights work great, and are really easy to use, and setup with other apps! ... show more

    • super easy setup with HomeKit and Siri
This is our second set of smart light bulbs and first one from Philips Hue. We have iPhones and iPads almost everywhere in the house (an iPad for each one and an iPhone for each adult) so we don't need to invest in extra voice control devices ( the idea of buying an Echo for each room sounds awful, though currently we have one in the kid's room and I like it). Before having this Hue Starter Kit, as most people considering their 1st smart light bulbs, I didn't understand either why a hub (or bridge) is required while some light bulbs say they don't need to. So I purchase my first set of smart light bulbs from another brand, without a hub and claiming it supported Siri. But it didn't have a HomeKit code so it was just a fake ad. As a tech guy (installed all kinds of hardware and software in data center for years and also a developer) it took me more than a couple of hours to try all 3 paring methods to make it work with Alexa, and it was super annoying and felt unsafe to be asked to share my location all the time, not to mention I also had to input my complicated wifi passcode several times for a single try. The Philips Hue Hub, originally just for Siri control, tuned out a big surprise. It made it super easy to setup, almost worked out of box. All you need to do is to read a few lines of instruction, plug in two cords (power and network cable) and scan HomeKit code from your iPhone. The only difficult part for me was to find where the HomeKit code was among a mass of words and numbers on the hub's body. But that was all. Before purchasing, I was worried about the light bulbs in this starter kit were previous version and not white ambience as a couple of reviews pointed out. When they lighted up I found 2700k color was perfectly for me, both in living room and bedroom. Plus the watts is even slightly bigger than the current version which has a flat top and bluetooth. I even prefer this version over the bluetooth version if next time I need more bulbs because of the brightness. What a great deal that you get the hub and the lovely bulbs for just a bit more than 60 dollars. Highly recommend it especially if you want to utilize Siri you already have and don't want to waste your intelligence on figuring out how to connect a single bulb to your wifi for multiple bulbs. ... show more
